A promising forward from Tasmania, Morrison was struck down by shoulder injuries in 2003 and was not able to show recruiters what he was capable of. But Collingwood still took a punt on Morrison at pick 17 in the National Draft.
Morrison made his senior VFL debut midway through 2004 but was out of his depth and soon went back to the reserves.
