A cold, wet, miserable Saturday at the MCG was the setting for the Round 14 clash between the Pies and Saints. The 2007 trademark grit and determination was once again on display from the new breed of Magpies. Again missing several big names from the side, Collingwood showed that they are about playing team football, not about any individual. The team was on fire in the first half and dominated much of the play. Without wanting to sound like a broken record, once more they failed to convert enough of their chances and hence did not have the lead their dominance deserved. St Kilda fought back hard in the third term and looked seemingly in control 21 points ahead a few minutes into the last. It is an absolute credit to the young pies that they did not give in; they fought their way back despite St Kilda’s flooding to guts out a hard earned 9 point victory.
