2005:
The injury riddled forward spent the rest of 2004 recovering, and
found himself in hot water with a well documented tussle with a taxi
driver. Davidson enjoyed a solid pre-season of 2005, building up slowly
for a big year.
2004:
The son of former Geelong and Richmond player Gary Davidson, Tom was
selected at pick 27 in the 2001 National draft.
After the draft Collingwood recruiting manager Noel Judkins stated
that Davidson was a better mark than Chris Tarrant.
Davidson spent his first season at Williamstown, learning his craft
from players such as Brad Lloyd and Troy West. 2003 was meant to be
the season where Davidson showed the AFL why Judkins made such a bold
statement but sadly for the big forward, his season was cut short
when he injured his knee prior to the season which saw him out for
the rest of the year.
Davidson was fit by the time the 2004 pre-season rolled around and
by the beginning of the season was fit and primed for a spot in the
senior 22.
Davidson debut in round 2 against the Western Bulldogs at the MCG.
After taking a couple of terrific marks early, Davidson’s ‘good
knee’ collapsed and the injury saw him out for another 12 months.
