Report Card: Mid-Season (Round 11) - by Dave68

Has totally fallen from grace with supporters and the coaching staff. The former Brownlow medalist finds himself in a fierce battle to hold onto his position in the senior side and is finding himself playing for the reserves squad for the first time since he won the Brownlow. Does not find himself in the top 10 of any stats list within the club. Where to here for Woewodin? I believe we should persist with him. He is not very good in a pack situation, but maybe if we loosen him up into a half back role as he played at Melbourne, he may be utilized and his lack of pace may not be highlighted. I believe he should model his game around Joel Bowden. However Bowden probably has more courage backing back into packs. Woewodin is still a good in-and-under player. At worst, he is good for depth. Surely Woewodin will lift and regain his form in the second half of the year.

2005:

Continuing his form from midseason, Woewodin put in admirable performances in the losses to Geelong and Brisbane, prior to being one of the best on the ground in the gripping one point victory over a valiant and fast finishing Richmond. He also put the icing on the Collingwood Cake in the emphatic victory over the Fremantle, scoring the final goal of the night – knocking the last bit of wind from the Dockers’ sails.

2004:

The 2000 Brownlow Medallist spent six years at Demonland before becoming a Magpie in 2003, much to the dismay of Demon supporters. In his time at Melbourne. Woewodin showed courage, endurance and skill - all three being large factors in his Brownlow Medal win.
In his first season at Collingwood, Woewodin was consistent, without starring. He dominated early in the season before he faded midway. His best matches were against Richmond and Adelaide early in the year. Against Melbourne in round 11, Woewodin put to bed the final Demons that he had carried with him since his departure at the end of
2002.
Woewodin enjoyed a good patch late in the year before fading in the finals. After scoring the side's first goal of the 2003 Grand Final, Woewodin fell away dismally as his side went down by 50 points. Keen to atone for the Grand Final loss, Woewodin started 2004 well, playing as a leader and showing many others the way. His skill and composure early in the
season were highlights in a slow start.
