Report Card: Mid-Season (Round 11) - by Dave68

Injury hampered start for Leon. Hand troubles have kept him out of the senior squad for 4 rounds and in that time, young Chris Egan has overtaken Leon for the forward pocket role. Davis has not improved his consistency. Will still be pushing hard for a position, but the question will lurk whether we want both Egan and Davis in the one team. Personally I think there is only room for 1. The problem with both is that they are not great tacklers, Davis in particular is easily shoved off the ball in the middle. Davis may add more pace to the midfield, but probably lacks height and muscle to play there. Trade bait? I don’t know. Leon strikes me as the sort of player that even if he is having a bad day, you still want him out there. He is a match winner and can kick miracle goals. Reminds me of Stephen Milne in that he is inconsistent but is the type of player you persist with. Hopefully he can show some form with Williamstown and push for senior selection once more. Not the start Leon was hoping for to 2005.

Fan Files: Player Profile: by Johnson#26
  2005:
In round 14 against the battling Hawthorn, Davis starred when used in the midfield – wracking up --- disposals in a --- point victory. Although the Hawks midfield was one of the worst in the competition, it still gave Davis plenty of confidence. But in the following month, once again the pressure was on for Davis to retain his place in side. However, just as Davis looked like he would yet again be demoted to Williamstown, Davis turned on an electrifying performance against Fremantle in round 19 at Subiaco Oval. In front of his family and friends, Davis was prolific, picking up an impressive --- possessions and --- goals. But his season fizzled out after that, finishing on a disappointing note in the final round loss to Carlton.

2004:
A small and dangerous forward, Davis was recruited by the club in the 1999 Draft at pick 34. The elusive forward, Davis played his first season in 2000, showing good signs - particularly early in the season.
His best Performance came against Hawthorn in round one, when he kicked four goals.
2001 was Davis' best year, when the small aboriginal caught opposition teams off guard with his pace and skill.
Davis' best match came in round 17, when He destroyed the Western Bulldogs with four goals. 2002 was another solid year for Davis, who continued his improvement to help carry the Pies to a Grand Final birth.
Davis was a major Disappointment in the big match, when he came off the ground without a stat to his name.
2003 started brightly for Davis, before he faded midway through the season. Infact,
Davis went 11 weeks without cracking the senior side. He was brought in against Port for the Preliminary Final, where he kicked three goals. Again, Davis was a Disappointment in the Grand Final, where he barely improved on his 2002 match. 2004 was not a good year for Davis, who was often second to the ball and didn't win it himself. Kicking around corners also earnt him a spray from supporters who disliked his inability to do the team things.
