Has work hard in his limited chances at senior level. The 1st player to be lifted off our rookie list after Tom Davidson’s injury worries. He is a good tap ruckman who will struggle to break back into the side with Cam Cloke and Fraser playing well and Richards due to come back. Has got a good taste of the big time but and it will hold him in good stead in future years. Could be trade bait as well in order to lure a big name to Collingwood. Good prospect.

2005:
Fanning finished off the year well after returning from a knee injury at Williamstown. He showed plenty of promise, and was retained on the rookie list for 2005.

2004:
A former NBL player, Fanning spent the early part of 2004 in the Williamstown reserves before injuring his knee, causing him to miss six weeks of football.
The Magpies are hoping he can follow former basketballer Dean Brogan's path to the AFL.
