Post subject: The Man of Steele to have a massive year! | |
|
This is an article to warm the heart. After his excellent finals performances last year, I have an inkling Steele Sidebottom might just be our most improved player in 2010 (along with Chris Dawes).
Young Magpie Steele Sidebottom sets pace in pre-season
Quote: |
COLLINGWOOD youngster Steele Sidebottom set the pace when the Magpies resumed pre-season training with a time-trial at Olympic Park this morning.
Sidebottom, the Magpies' first-round selection in the 2008 national draft, won the 2km time-trial ahead of midfielder Scott Pendlebury and Jaxson Barham.
Chris Dawes and Alan Toobey rounded out the top five. |

Dawes was in the top five last year as well. Toovey's the surprise, even if the Herald Sun can't spell his name. |

Toobey or not Toobey. That is the question. _________________ "There's an old saying in Tennessee, I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee, that says, fool me once, shame on... shame on you. Fool me... you can't get fooled again." - Oscar Wilde |

Dawes impressive with another top 5 finish for a big man, must have a huge tank. Hoping he catches fire this year
Frickin' tennis. I might write a nice letter to Demitriou asking him to start the season early |

Rusty has great skills and positions himself very well.
With Rusty, Beamer, Macca, Ball, Cheesey, Didak, Magic and Daisey - the Pies have a lot of mids and Bux teaching them.
Dawes will do fine with the extra tuition as well.
Pies look very well set for 2010 and beyond. _________________ Coaches give you direction but skills win you matches. |

he'll have an OK year. No one really excels in their 2nd year.
With Luke Ball into the side, theres real competition between Sidebottom and Beams and I don't think both have a spot just yet. Simon Buckley maybe squashes one out due to his extra speed as well.
Should play around 12-15 games and just hoping his body keeps fit. 2nd year has been a curse with injuries for many players.
Year 3 he will go nuts. _________________ There's more to life than footy.........just not much more. |

Lets hope Steele has a good year this year.
Do you think Simon Buckley's inclusion might place pressure on Toovey or Johnston? _________________ “I even went as far as becoming a Southern Baptist until I realised they didn’t keep ‘em under long enough” Kinky Friedman |

Or O'Bree?
DaVe your thinking is outmoded. These KIDS will win us the next flag. Beams and Sidebottom and Pendlebury and Ball will be the midfield to take us all the way. Sorry about the other blokes. They can help our VFL team to a flag too. |
