The trial gave some of the new players a chance to prove themselves but in the end it was Steele Sidebottom who came away with the win, followed by Scott Pendlebury and Jaxson Barham. The Top five was rounded out by Chris Dawes and Alan Toovey.

Good to see Dawes up there

For the second year in a row Chris Dawes is one of the standouts in the time trial.

Highly impressive for a man of his size and hopefully shows Mick just how determined he his to make it at AFL level and he'll be rewarded with significant AFL experience in 2010.

IMO he's the missing link in our forward line structure.

I agree just hope he can improve on his Marking

His fitness & fastness is looking good ~ yep, would luv to see Dawes in the 1sts.
We could do with his bodywork out there too, a bit of a presence about him, I reckon.
Not bad looking either Cool

Where's the Sidebottom love, cmon, this kid is a freak, he wins every single time trial we hold, and it's only his first full pre season.

Rusty will be an absolute champion for us, think Dane Swan the second, with maybe slightly better disposal. Razz

I can't figure Dawes out, runs all day, has a toughness about him on the field, yet attacks the ball like a 12 year old who weight 40 kilos.

Surely Bucks has to have a word to him to turn him around.

Anyway, good to see him up near the top in the TT, and Pendles must be over his broken leg fully now, which is just great news.

2010 has started well. Very Happy

I read it somewhere that the older players feel like the time trials are pretty pointless as they know where they are at and therefore just pace themselves... where as the younger guys are all about posting their best times ect.

Would explain why majority of time its the young blokes up the top.

I agree.
The kid owned everyone in both time trials this pre season.
It would seem he has a pretty fair tank to go along with all his skills.
Future pie gun fella's. There is a hell of a lot to look forward to from this kid.

Scapegoats are easy to find if you're looking ... me, I prefer to point at the scumbag Umpires !

Anyways, don't ya mean If Jolly fails, not When !!

DTM no doubt you've seen him play for than me but his actual hands seem pretty good to me.

IMO I don't believe it's the actual act of marking that's a concern more that he seems to on occassions misread the flight of the ball in an overhead marking situation and gets to far under it.

His ability to take a chest mark in a contested marking situation appears to be very good already and should only improve with more strength and experience.

Must be given every opportunity by Mick in season 2010 to become our third tall forward option.

Well Overhead Marking is what I meant and I do agree Dawes Reading a Ball in Flight needs improvement because he does find himself Behind his opponent too much

I Still think Dawes should be played as an attacking mid-fielder.
He has the height and pace of a Cash-(oooops) Chris Judd type on-baller.

BTW, It's great to have another Buckley on the Books at the Nexus Centre!
Has anyone seen him play and have an Opinion on his skills and aptitude/application to make it as a regular Senior player?
