He was a classy wingman who played for Collingwood in the mid 1980s. He went back to his home state, South Australia, in circa 1987. Unfortunately, he went home when he still had a lot to offer the Collingwood Football Club. He helped form a centreline at Collingwood that looked magnificent on paper: Abernethy Raines Barham. Interestingly, Nathan Buckley (a fellow Port Adelaide player) rated him as the best player he has ever seen in a recent player profile. John Cahill has also said that the best players to come from Port in his era have been Buckley, Wanganeen and Abernethy.
He is the guy that works for Channel 7.
