Great come from behind win. Rowdy gets one up on Gary Ayers.
Let's hope the injuries are not too bad. |

McCarthy cant take a trick.
Agree on the assessment of the game. Thought beams was really good. Blair for the 2nd week in a row was very very impressive. _________________ Like Nicks, why not donate

Played more forward than midfield like recent times in the VFL.
Was positioned mainly about 35 metres out from goal and roamed up to the wings from time to time.
Worked in well with Dawesy and Bear.
He's a smart player in those wet conditions, using his strong body well.
He was a good link player considering 40 metre type passes were the go in the greasy conditions. |

Seemed to be some good spirit and commitment out there among the boys. When Bryan kicked his goal,I think to put us in front, he was pumped up and the boys all ran in to acknowledge it.Was such a turn a round from the second and third quarters where they just couldn't finish off their work with some straight forward goals.
Well done. It sure shut those port fans up... _________________ 'MADE IT LEGENDARY' |

Looked to have some hamstring soreness....
As for McCaffer, the role reminded me much like an O'keefe type of role.
I think our side is pretty settled atm, im guessing Wood and Beams to be the only regular senior players that played yesterday. _________________ Like Nicks, why not donate

Thanks Favs.
His family are family friends. He will be a good honest player if he can get over all these injuries that seem to plague him! _________________ kam |

Just a little snippet from the Age in regards to our VFL side and a few key young Magpie players:
Collingwood forward Sean Rusling got through unscathed in his return from a fractured cheekbone in the Magpies' 15-point win over Port Melbourne yesterday. Rusling received the injury three weeks ago in his return VFL match against Coburg. He previously had had four serious shoulder injuries in as many seasons.
Despite Rusling having only six touches, coach Brown said he showed a lot of promise. "It's terrific to see him out there and hopefully he'll just get stronger and stronger each week," Brown said.
"I thought he was solid. We had to be very mindful of his game time but he was solid."
Ben Johnson played half a game in his return match after breaking a leg in round three. "(He) got stronger as the game went on, I thought," Brown said.
"He was a bit rusty but he did some pretty nice things, particularly late when it counted."
Dayne Beams (32 possessions), Danny Stanley (29), Brent MacAffer (29 and 10 marks) and Chris Dawes (24 and eight marks) were the other top Magpies.
Brown said the fifth-placed Magpies had high aims in their second season in the VFL. "We've beaten some really good sides now so I think that's important to beat the sides above you," he said.
I'm most impressed with Beams, Macaffer and Dawes. Some terrific numbers between them, particularly for Macaffer who is becoming a "high-half forward" and Dawesy for a key position player in conditions that don't necessarily suit the big fellas. _________________ The window is open my friend! |
