Nothing to stop him being President of Collingwood AND CEO of nine ... unless the workload is too much for him. |

CEO of Nine would most likely take him to Sydney, but there is speculation that he could be head of 9 in Melbourne and then when his Presidency finishes, take up the Sydney post.
Unless of course, they move the CEO position TO Melbourne.....can't see why that can't happen. _________________ Jacqui © Proud Pies 2003 and beyond |

If I was offered the same choice as Eddie, my bags will be packed. I Love the Pies, but opportunities like this do not come around that often and good luck to our Pres.
Maybe he gets to be a guest on a new show, "who wants be a billionaire", compare is James Packer.
Sponsorship is set up for years. Swan is virtually in the top position. It’s not that if he leaves us in the shite. |

I would be very disappointed if Eddie recanted his creative ways to become an institutional suit. TV is a corporate thugs game with about as much spirit as a concrete pylon, although Eddie may think he needs to head that way for a while to build the credibility required for an assault on politics. Total speculation, of course. |

Ed has setup us up financially, but we still struggle on the field. I'd like to see that aspect improve before he goes, but there ain't much we can do about ti. Culprit is right, it is a fasntastic opportunity, and Ed would probably foolish not to entertain it. |

The comment that Eddie can't be both CEO of Nine and Collingwood - is it based on some rule or corporate law? Surely someone like Packer was running a hundred companies in some fashion.
However if Eddie can't be President of Collingwood I would bet he could continue to be the power behind the throne of whomever replaces him. I would hate to see his influence lost.
He indeed is an ambitious man as we indeed are ambitious fans.
We need each other. |

Whatever Eddie does I'm not too fused either way. He deserves our blessing regardless which path he takes.
We have never been stronger off the field in recent memory (on the filed is a whole different debate) and that's thanks to Eddie & Swanny.
2 scenarios -
Eddie stays : All is fine, obviously with his commitment to success.
(The caveat must be the hard decisions in regards to the footy dept must made should we fail AGAIN on field in 2006).
Eddie goes : A like minded succesful business man & football person in Craig Kelly assumes the Presidency. Good mates with Perty helps greatly. A fellow Pie member suggested to me that Eddie quitting could even be a better option than him being President as with having no offical role with the club he could assume a John Wren type of role. |
