"A COLLINGWOOD supporter has been banned from attending matches for the rest of the year after leaning over the fence and grabbing a West Coast player on Sunday afternoon.
...
He has also had his Collingwood membership suspended by the club."

He is indeed. A ripper bloke at that I caught up with him in Melbourne in the late 2000's with Magpie Dan. A really good bloke _________________ Bring Back Tranquilli |

FFS. Cry me a river. When in our lives have you been ever been able to grab a player's head over the fence?
6 months? Should have been a lifetime ban!! |

He sits a few rows in front of me at home games.
I've never spoken to him, but he comes across as a decent bloke who hasn't caused any trouble any time I've seen him at matches.
I think a warning and a reiteration to spectators at large not to touch the players would have sufficed in the circumstances. Banning him from attending is very harsh. _________________ | 1902 | 1903 | 1910 | 1917 | 1919 | 1927 | 1928 | 1929 | 1930 | 1935 | 1936 | 1953 | 1958 | 1990 | 2010 | 2023 | |

Was just on the news, I didn't notice it during the game.
What a joke, the fans association should appeal his ban.
If not, they must ban players high 5ing the crowd after games and what about the ground invasion when Buddy kicked that goal?
I remember in the WSC days. I was about 11 and ran up to David Hookes after he got out at the WACA ground, he was pretty foul on being dismissed and when he brushed me off with my autograph book I called him a prick, he gave me a sharp clip behind the ear, much to the delight of the crowd.
Geez the world is getting softer by the minute. _________________ Don't count the days, make the days count. |

I’m surprised there is anyone here who doesn’t know him! If nothing else I thought the shot of him and Dan hugging at the 2010 grand final replay is pretty iconic. I don’t think he’s posted here for a few years but was a regular on Nick’s for a few years around the 2000s / early 2010s.
It’s hard to defend something like this and there probably needs to be a slap on the wrist of some kind, but I doubt he meant any malice by it and I hope the club ban is the end of it. Missing the rest of the year is already a pretty serious whack. _________________ "Every time we witness an injustice and do not act, we train our character to be passive in its presence." – Julian Assange |

I don’t condone what he did but I also don’t agree with the really severe penalty he received. This is called killing an ant with a steamroller 😡 if the so called AFL fans union don’t take his case up with the AFL, for what purpose do they exist? Are they really scared of the AFL’s power? They shouldn’t be in that position and have to advocate for the unfairly treated perpetrator 😠 _________________ I term the current Collingwood attack based strategy “Unceasing Waves” like on a stormy and windy day with rough seas. Saw the news article
He apologised but he got a years suspension from attending games
Seriously how stupid is that
Ok we all get we can’t touch players but he didn’t say or do anything in a threatening manner he basically gave him a cuddle
The west coast player walked away smiling
I hope the club gives him next years membership for free as a good will gesture
Harsh price to pay I would have thought a stern warning would have done |

You guys really are not thinking this through.
Imagine if a carlscum fan did this to Daicos and made him twist and hurt his neck the week before finals.
Watch it, it’s not a Pat on the head. In the land of idiots, the next one could be far worse. This was a fairly relaxed game because of the scoreline, in a 5-point margin?
I guess most of you are blokes, if this was AWFL? I don’t know a woman alive who has not been touched in any way shape or form and felt yuk over it at some point.
You cannot touch the players. End of.
Quite frankly he’s lucky it’s not a life ban. _________________ You cant fix stupid, turns out you cant quarantine it either! |
