So how do you know then? It gives people a chance to vent in real time. That can't be a bad thing.
After a shocking first 20 minutes we dominated and came away deservedly with the points. Bobby is back. WHE was superb. Everyone contributed once we got going. We can build a season around that win. But Anzac Day is the key. A big win then and we can truly say we're back.
Pendles for 10,000 possessions and the Medal. "Scott Emblebry". |
There’s venting and then there’s abuse. I must say it’s better than it used to be but still the usuals fools, clowns and recalcitrants. _________________ Four legged animals good, two legged animals better |

Great win in the end.
Am wondering if that first quarter was a bit of a hangover following our bye?
Are Port our bitches ?! 😁 |

Reports of the death of the Collingwood midfield are greatly exaggerated -
Pies mids of DeGoey, Naicos, Mitchell and Pendlebury ( subbed out late ) vs Ports midfield of Butters, Rozee, Horn - Francis and Drew by the simple but important numbers -
Disposals in total - Pies 96. Port 91
Clearances in total - Pies 21. Port 13
Tackles in total - Pies 25. Port 16
After quarter time, our mids totally dominated Ports much vaunted midfield.
Throw in Cameron and Cox efforts along with a very mobile, nimble forward line that was too agile for the Port defence, they were simply better than Port in and around the contest. |

Todays win was as impressive as any we have chalked up in the past two seasons (excluding Finals wins which are gold...)
It is worth remembering that for our first three games came off the shortest pre-season any Premier has ever had.
I would imagine that our players are now starting to get the feel of the season- a good run of games at The 'G will no doubt be useful.
Two monster clashes coming up- Bombers on ANZAC Day then Carlton..
Let's see what our 2024 model can produce... _________________ Firm in the belief that number 17 flag is only months away... |

Thought Cameron and Cox exposed Soldo as a C grader today. After quarter time we were so dominant around the ball it was hard to believe. Truly one of our great H&A turnarounds. _________________ Get back on top. |

Yes Cox and Cameron both did well.

That's more like it. The movement and tackling took a big step forward. Darcy Cameron, Lippa, Coxy, Hosk and Jamie important in keeping us in it and turning the game early. The first quarter was more of us getting in each other's way and turning the ball over, but after that things finally started to synchronise better at stoppages, out of packs and in contests.
That will help the good habits memory, with more tidying up still to come. Needless to say how critical it is we build on this. _________________ In the end the rain comes down, washes clean the streets of a blue sky town.

Lots to like today JdG was amazing and Nick Daicos played his best game of the season.
Great games by lipinski and WHE too.
Today I saw a team challenging for finals _________________ Daicos, impossible angle ... Goal! |

And what was an absolute cracker was the preparedness to not kick blind but
share with a team mate in the better position. i.e Bobby Hill on at least two occasions not trying to kick in congested fwd area
Better he passed to a player freeer than him _________________ I'm not arguing--just explaining why i am right |

Great win although I did write us off at 1qt time as I felt like we were unwilling to run as hard as last season which has been evident in most of our games in 2024.
Many improved performances but I was so impressed with JDG’s MONSTER performance and his will to take the game by the scruff of it's neck when we look flat footed and fumbly. His gut running from the 2nd qtr onwards was imho the catalyst for our revival in form and fortune and was a sight to behold.
The passage of play in front of the MCC where he ultimately shanked a kick to a Port player began in the middle of the ground and through gut running and will power took it upon himself to ignite the team. Yes it ended in a turnover but by geez did he run like a man on a mission.
De Goey’s game was worthy of 10 Brownlow votes it was that influential.
WHE was also superb as were quite a few others once things started going our way. _________________ - Side By Side - |

An absolute ripper of a win.
Clearly, after the week off we were a bit rusty to begin with and were jumped early by Port. However, apart from that first 20 minutes, we dominated all over the ground, as we haven't done all year.
Jordy, the Daicos bros, Lippa, WHE, Cameron and Cox were supreme. What I liked was how our forward line, full of mid sized and small forwards functioned the best it has for a long time. I think our mids are only now learning how to deliver the ball forward, to maximise our scoring opportunities.
Looking forward to ANZAC Day with confidence and am expecting no changes to our team. |
