Not much to celebrate to be honest. The second half more than undid all the good of the first half.
Hawks swung a change, and it was 1970 revisited. Consider that the Hawks were basically missing their entire forward line. If we played anyone else, even North or WCE, we lose that game.
Cox's time is up IMO. We're basically taking up two spots to fill one need. Stick with Cameron and have someone chip in when needed. Cox is having negative impact up forward. Goalless in five game in 2024 and just 3 goals in his past 14 games, and he is getting in the way more often than not. _________________ Fighting against the objectification of woman. |

I was confident that under Fly we were busting all the bogies. I was wrong.
I am devastated by that appalling second half. _________________ Free Julian Assange!!

Well, the bye could not come at a better time, serious soul searching to be done. _________________ "You hate a mean man, a grasping man, a man who wants everything and gives nothing. That’s Collingwood. They are a law unto themselves"

No. That won't do. Unless there's a dramatic change in form we will finish in the bottom half of the ladder. 1991 all over again (but that was a younger tougher side too). |

I haven’t seen Fly’s presser. Not sure I want to. If he talks pride and values and resilience and we fought it out I will spew. Just start being honest. They are not playing well enough in spades. Ball movement is poor. Transition is poor. Disposal is awful.
What has improved is some of our defence. Frampton has been excellent since he came in. Noble has been good but tailed off under pressure from the mids opening the flood gate. IQ has improved. Maynard has been a constant but got sucked in by Jack today. Howe made to look old today. Not sure what planet Darcy Moore is on but it ain’t planet earth.
Our rucks were well beaten today but Cameron fought on. Looking like we did need another ruck. Not sure Teakle was the one but I can see why they were interested in Goldstein and Nankervis late last year. Perhaps we should have pulled the trigger because Cox ain’t going anywhere at the moment. Needs to blob around the VFL again and Begg needs to come in and have a shot. We can’t move Frampton now. He’s become too important to Full Back line in the last 3 weeks.
If we get a chance at the MSD it pretty much needs to be an experience ruck. Not sure who’s left going around _________________ Premiership Pies made it legendary in 2023, don’t let them forget it. #Go PIES 2024…. |

Venting thoughts:
* we recruit and pick a team of midgets yet bomb it forward 27 times in the second half forward to one Pies player and three Hawks.
* The cliche AFL "reverse crackdown" on Ginnivan now getting free kicks was as predictable as it was putrid.
* Cox put in the worse effort of a Ruckman for our club since Chris Bryan and Guy Richards,
* Our ability to fumble, mumble, stumble and tumble against this club since 1978 is uncanny and almost comical.
* What solar system is Darcy Moore's head in at the moment because it ain't matchday.
* Time to dump McCreery & Cox who are adding nothing.
* DeGoey was the only one who could hold his head high. _________________ I love the Pies, hate Carlscum

Feeling a little deflated by how poor our performance was in the second half. We had a 10-day break to prepare for this game in contrast to Hawthorn who had a 6-day turnaround yet they ran out the game with more run far better than we did. I'm trying to understand why this was the case.
On the positives, our first half performance was very good. Noble's making the most of his opportunities and sticking up to the selection committee. Frampton is making good progress in his development and is becoming an increasingly reliable defender. I felt that this was also Schultz's best performance for our club, and he's slowly adapting to our system of play which is a real positive. He also got some reward for effort on the scoreboard.
2-3 isn't a catastrophe considering we were 0-3. I do agree with What'sinaname that we need to be 4-4 to stand a chance of doing anything of relevance this year. Our next three is Port Adelaide (H), Essendon and Carlton. We need to win 2 of those 3. _________________ | 1902 | 1903 | 1910 | 1917 | 1919 | 1927 | 1928 | 1929 | 1930 | 1935 | 1936 | 1953 | 1958 | 1990 | 2010 | 2023 | |

2 goals 7 to 8 goals 4 in the second half against a bottom four side like Hawthorn is not a good effort.I see a lot of hubris and complacency in that performance. |

Am glad someone else sees this. I think McCreery is one of the most overrated players in the AFL. In an era where possessions are a dime a dozen, it's a travesty that McCreery has got 20 disposals just once, and his next best game is 15.
After 65 games, he should be regularly collecting 20+ disposals. _________________ Fighting against the objectification of woman. |
