Stuff like that list unfortunately makes AI journalism seem more appealing. No actual thought or analysis seems to have gone into it at all.
(Actually, for all we know it might have been written by Chat GPT.)

Adelaide haven't beaten Collingwood for 7 and a half years, so that's a fairly stupid thing for Dawson to have said.
Melbourne has beaten Collingwood twice in the last 10 match-ups (once by just 4 points), so that's a fairly stupid thing for May to have said.

Simply motivational porn for demoralised teammates, who have to take a step up in 2024.

So, looking at the "McRae Era" stats as at the end of 2023 (see here: https://www.magpies.net/nick/bb/viewtopic.php?t=90119 ), the team for Finals was very settled across 2022 and 2023.
There were 18 players who played all 6 Collingwood Finals.
If you add Naicos, Mitchell, Hill, McStay/Frampton to that bunch, it seems that (in both years) Collingwood had a clear view of its Finals 22 and they were almost all available to take the field in almost all games.
Given the time spent arguing on here about who should come in and who should go out and whether players were or were not "best 23", it seems like the Football Department had a very clear view of that all along.
Obviously there were a few players unavailable at the business end, particularly Adams and Johnson (who played all 3 Finals in 2022 but was injured this year) but, by and large, the Club knew who they wanted to play when it counted and was largely able to get them onto the park. A fantastic planning and recruitment effort, really.

Big article, has the details...
Best season ever? The thrilling record broken in 2023
https://www.afl.com.au/news/1057429/best-season-ever-the-thrilling-record-broken-in-2023
Collingwood's four-point Grand Final win over Brisbane proved to be a fitting way to end a season of heart-stopping finishes. As has become the norm under Craig McRae, the Magpies were again dominant in thrillers... Collingwood went 8-1 in matches decided by 10 points or less in 2023, a win percentage of 89, while preliminary finalist Carlton was the only side to go unbeaten, its 6-1-0 record giving it a win percentage of 86.
Record in games decided by 10 points or less in 2023 (win-draw-loss)
Collingwood 8-1
Carlton 6-1-0
Port Adelaide 6-1
Greater Western Sydney 5-3
etc.
Seasons with most matches decided by 10 points or less
57 – 2023
49 – 2014
47 – 2019, 2021
45 – 2018
44 – 2017
43 – 2002
42 – 2010, 2013, 2022
