Putting aside club allegiances, he’s an icon and legend of the sport.
Sad to hear of his passing.

Yep, there is no game without an opposition. A legend of the sport. His father played for Melbourne too, but was killed at Tobruk. I am sure he would have had pride in his son. A great Australian family. |

Wow, unreal, just heard it, wasnt he at last nights torrid match ? Yeh, cannot deny I despised him as a Coach, broke our Magpie hearts many times, but yes, no denying a legend of the League, his record as player, Coach was brilliant, an Icon of the game, for sure. Vale Ron, rest in peace. _________________ Poverty exists not because we cannot feed the poor, but because we cannot satisfy the rich.

Very sad news indeed, like many Collingwood supporters and players over the year he was a thorn in our side, but he is a legend. RIP Ronald Dale |

A great footballer and a great man. In the 1980s I played for the Dennis Cricket Club in Melbourne's northern suburbs. Barassi, Norm Smith and Len Smith all played for Dennis and were well-remembered there. I'm sure they still are. _________________ The future is hidden from all men, and the greatest football matches hang on the smallest chances. - Demosthenes |

At North in the Sensational Seventies he was the greatest! I loved his colourful dress standards and still wear shirts like he did back then. Younger guys ask me where they can buy them lol _________________ I love this club and I hold anyone in contempt who does not think it is worth fighting for. |

Vale RDBarassi!
If ever there is an omen that a new successful era is starting for Collingwood it’s the passing of our greatest opponent. For more than 3 decades Ron Barassi was the instigator of the dreaded Colliwobbles. From leading the great Melbourne teams of the 50’s and early 60’s, to master minding the greatest Grand Final comeback in history in 1970, and then coaching Nth Melbourne to victory over Hafey’s Heroes in late 70’s Barassi was an opponent hard to overcome. His will to win was unsurpassed.
RIP Barassi (unless Hooker Harrison meets him at those perlly gates to continue the tag started in the 1958 Grand Final🤪) _________________ Collingwood Domination. Envy of the Nation! |

Sad for his family, but in all honesty I didn't like the guy. I was introduced to him once, and when he discovered I was a Collingwood supporter, he turned his back on me with contempt. |

Great player but an extremely fortunate coach. |
