TBH, I don't think there is a way to unite the MAGA nutters with the Democrat crowd. Well, nothing short of a major war but even then I'm not sure it would work. Major natural disaster, maybe. _________________ kill for collingwood! |

COVID wasn't far off a major natural disaster and we saw the ideological divisions that fostered. I think the much more likely reality is that nothing whatsoever – certainly, nothing involving the real world – can bridge that gap. The 2020 election conspiracy theory and resulting marginalisation of anyone on the right who dares to question Trump's narrative suggests that the point of no return has well and truly been reached. _________________ "Every time we witness an injustice and do not act, we train our character to be passive in its presence." – Julian Assange |

Must have been another stutter.
I think most people are now quietly acknowledging that the "Russian misinformation" about Biden’s declining mental acuity was correct all along. But the spin coming from the top is pretty offensive – they really do take the American people for idiots:
Quote: | The president was naming the congressional champions on this issue and was acknowledging her incredible work,” Jean-Pierre said. “I don’t think it’s all that unusual to have someone top of mind, especially as there’s a big event.”
Jean-Pierre said Biden would welcome Walorski’s family to the White House on Friday for a bill signing in her honor.
After a reporter said it was confusing that Biden would think Walorski was alive if she was at the top of his mind, the press secretary answered, “I don’t find that confusing.”
“I mean, I think many people can speak to, sometimes when you have someone top of mind, they are top of mind. Exactly that,” she said. |

I heard that "stutter" on the radio. Whoops.
They guy really seems to be declining. No chance he should run for a second term. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

Feel it’s more likely than not that he will, though. I just don’t think they have any plan B other than a shitfight. _________________ "Every time we witness an injustice and do not act, we train our character to be passive in its presence." – Julian Assange |

It's a very reasonable assumption. A significant number of mouth-breathers voted for Trump a couple of times (and, indeed, may do so a third time) and quite a few people in the US actually watch basketball willingly. Why would anyone think they might not be idiots? |

Watching the Golden State Warriors win a play off match from a bar in the Tenderloin area of Frisco was a true experience.
If the EPL was playing in the park next door, I'd close the blinds. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

It’s only woke if you have a superficial understanding of history or read too much right wing press.
Hurricane Katrina devastated the poorest areas of New Orleans which combined with the natural incompetence of the Bush Administration seriously f*cked things up for mostly African Americans. This is not special news; it’s out there.
https://www.newyorker.com/books/under-review/why-hurricane-katrina-was-not-a-natural-disaster
There was a brilliant TV series based on the corrupt politics of the time (historically and in the immediate aftermath of Katrina) by the makers of “The Wire” called “Treme” which in part dealt with that.
Kemala Harris has got it in one : get the $ to the neediest as they missed out big time last time and in floods they’ll be the most affected.

Doh, they are greatest need 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️ The term woke is simply a pejorative term which panders to the gullible on the right who want to substitute being indignant for fact. That’s why you got it so wrong here. _________________ “I even went as far as becoming a Southern Baptist until I realised they didn’t keep ‘em under long enough” Kinky Friedman |

And comments using "woke" or "sjw" simply pander to the gullible Qanon/alt-right clowns. _________________ kill for collingwood! |

Nothing much to see here:
https://www.politifact.com/factchecks/2022/oct/03/rick-scott/no-kamala-harris-didnt-say-hurricane-ian-relief-wo/
Apart from having chronic foot-in-mouth disease, Harris is nothing like the caricature the right have constructed of her. She was far from "woke" when she held the position of attorney-general in California, and she would be far from a "woke" president if she ever reaches that position – more's the pity. _________________ "Every time we witness an injustice and do not act, we train our character to be passive in its presence." – Julian Assange |
