Grundy gets too much blame which lets the mids off the hook. A lot of our centre square problems are connected with the mids being beaten by their opponents. |

Yeah blame the mids for being unable to win Grundys taps which land at his own feet… |

But if they land at his feet (a lot do) then our mids should be used to this and try to beat their opponents. Too often they are beaten easily, |

Good to hear Fly has given Grundy some license to play his natural game with a bit of flair. He obviously didn’t respond well to Bucks’s instructions. Very telling Brody said Fly knows how to approach the players at their level. Which game was it last year when he played with freedom, ran forward and kicked a couple of goals? expect more of that, and more of Cameron or Cox in the ruck. |

Would like to see more of this! His 12 goals last year was his highest in a season. Cox was used a lot more in the ruck in '17 & '18 and I think he is pretty handy with his tap work.
If we could get these (Cameron or Cox) blokes rotating through FF working effectively, we are going to cause some serious headaches for opposition coaches. _________________ Don't count the days, make the days count. |

Cameron’s ahead of Cox simply because he’s a reliable mark of the ball. But Coxy just had serious eye surgery so it might have been a vision issue the past couple of years for him. I like Coxy in the ruck because of his basketball background, and he’s more likely to just punch it forward instead of trying to be a fancy pants and tap to Adams with two opposition players piggy backing him. It’s Coxy’s last year anyway and he’s around for insurance and Fly wants to see how he can improve his play and get the best out of him. I think the previous coaching team failed the past couple of years. |

Must be Grundy’s fault |
Well, it is when his hit out goes straight to the oppo. Dunno why folks still want to dispute this and demonize our mids.
It's not true that all of Grundy's hit outs go to his feet.
e.g. vs. Geebung...
Q2 18:36 Grundy HO to his right from boundary throw-in, straight to Selwood in the clear. (He then tackles Selwood around the neck and Selwood gets the free...)
There's no mystery why Selwood got a clearance from Grundy's hit out. It's not 'cos our mids are so bad.

lol who cares? Grundy averages more hit outs per game than every other ruck in the comp, but you’re blaming him for a 5 goal loss because he didn’t win 2 hit outs from which Carlton scored 1 goal. ... |
No, I never blamed Grundy for the loss. You said you don't care if he got humiliated (IMO) by Silvagni. I answered that if he'd dominated Silvagni, like he should've, Collingwood might've won... i.e. I was giving a reason why you might care. It's a totally fair "might".
It's fair to hope that the two centre bounces might have been two gimme Collingwood goals... Instead it's one gimme Carlton goal plus another instant Carlton F50. That's already 3+ goals of the 5-goal margin you keep banging on about.
But... again... the whole point of Silvagni vs. Grundy was not the game result.
And I don't care about how Silvagni did against other ruckmen. You were the one who started talkin' 'bout that... Sounded like your argument was: 'Look, Silvagni is rucking well against other teams, so that excuses Grundy's putrid effort against him.' That's a bad argument. And not even true that Silvagni did well against other ruckmen (in ruck contests). That's all.
And "more hit outs per game", blah, blah, blah? Serious?? We know he gets ***loads of hit outs. The problem is they don't help Collingwood at all. What's it gonna take for folks to accept that when Grundy hits it straight to the oppo, it's not the fault of Collingwood mids? |

Huh?? Off topic, but I just saw this... and guess I'll respond.
Do you deny our club has had problems with injury management? You think it's all bad luck? A decade of "bad luck"? Or "just a flesh wound"?
And your claim about "rock hard" blah blah blah is just false. Try not to misrepresent other poster's views... |

You define issues yourself and then use them as a support for stupid argument
problems with injury management? are they industry average, or not?

^^ We had an injury thread on this stuff a couple of years ago. Maybe you didn't read it...
Yep, we were much worse than average. Much worse than almost every other club...
Maybe you should read the thread...
And post in an injury thread. |

lol, sorry I was having fun.

it's swings and roundabouts.
What goes around comes around...
The moral of the story is it was identified and fixed. Tomorrow it's something else
If we do wish to revisit history, broadly :
There was a time it was deemed we had a few 'avoidable' injuries, It was decided not to introduce footballs too early in the pre-season.
Then it was decided to introduce ball work at the start of pre-season because we lost touch in the early rounds.
Then It was decided to soften the workload to safeguard bodies.
Then it was decided to increase workload because we weren't as fit as our opponents.
Then the hammy saga started, Then we decided to extend recovery to reduce repeat injuries..
Then the injury list got longer. Our guys are out 6 weeks, and some bunny from another team with similar injuries was back in 3 weeks.
Then it seemed every injury was treated with egg shells.
Then it was decided to hire Wade who brings us back to step 1.
Close to that.
Unless I've dreamt this up, somewhere in this 12 year period, according to our internet squeaky free wheelers, it was the ground, and the fitness staff all along. !!!!!!!!! |
