That`s something i have been wondering about. Will we get to have our grand final parties or BBQ`s ? Probably not. I usually go over to a mate`s place , have a pie or hot dog eating competition with a couple of friends , place our inhouse bets where we bet on the margins for each quarter , first goal , BOG ,how many score reviews etc and are vying for the perpetual trophy that sits on my mate`s tv where we write the winner`s name on in texta and then we sit down and watch the game. No money involved ,but all good fun ,but i don`t think it will happen this year. _________________ I blame my hair loss on supporting Collingwood for 50 years |

We pay for these losers to field a team every season and we have done forever - Collingwood supporters' money keeps them afloat. It's one of the reasons I can't stand them winning. The money we pay Treloar is trivial in the scheme of things. There'd be no AFL if we and the Eagles and one or two others didn't pay for it all. |

On a positive note, whoever wins it will be fun to laugh at the loser; Dreamons 58 years of failure or the Welfare 2 flags in their entire existence. I think I could stomach that increasing to 3 better than I could Smellbum winning. Before my time but my grandfather absolutely hated them from the 50s

You think the Dees have received less financial support from the AFL? |

We have the same mindset. I hate the Dogs and their “down and out” persona. They’ve been given handouts for years, which is why I call them the Tin Rattlers. They put the bid on Darcy Moore at the draft and caused us to pick him early. Haggled is into the ground for Treloar. I also can’t stand Libba and Hunter. I hope they lose by less than a goal. I’d love to see the Dees win it for Neale Daniher. _________________ The only stat that matters is whether you win or lose. |

Far rather them than the toffy Melb bloody toffs, and i really hope Treloar does get his flag, we treated him like shit, goodluck too him. Go Dogs, my late dad in law, a six yr WW2 hero, Military Cross, loved them, so yes, im on their bandwagon sunshine. _________________ Poverty exists not because we cannot feed the poor, but because we cannot satisfy the rich.

They were ferocious and rampant all night and if they bring that sort of style to the GF then they'll smash melscum, which I hope they do. There's a handful of teams who make me sick and the toffee, range rover driving pretentious flogs at melscum are one of them. We propped that shit stain of a club up for 20 yrs with the QB games for nothing in return, they cheated for draft picks, got fined and got roos as a reward. Perennially kissed on the dick by the afl and if you don't believe me then go back and to the coin toss in their prelim. The ump gave gawnski a nice handshake to say don't worry mate, we've got your back. Carn the doggies!!!!!! |
Well said, spot on, we have propped the toffs up for yrs with that stupid Q B game, and they did tank too, their fans are so flakey, any other year up the snowfields, in their tweed jackets with leather patches. Hope the dogs tear the toffy nosed bastards to shreds, let the drought roll on, stuff em. they hate out guts, always have, treated our club like working class shit, so up them, stuff em. _________________ Poverty exists not because we cannot feed the poor, but because we cannot satisfy the rich.

This argument annoys me even if it is true.
Why do we have so many teams??????
It is all about the media rights.
9 games a weekend makes a lot more money than 6 games a weekend like in the old vfl days.
National Companies want a national audience to sell their products.
can't have a national audience with only the traditional football states.
If we operate a premier league competition...we would probably have 5 or 6 competitive teams like us and a bunch of second or third rate teams vying for the bottom ladder positions or the second division spots.
Even with 5 or 6 competitive team you would still run the big risk of some of them going broke because of overcommitting player payments
Even the Yanks that great capitalist nation have the draft for players.
So we are in a truly socialist system ...and even the Yanks realize that. |

Just on the Doggies, i just found out they got that young absolute gun, Bailey Smith, with pick 45, that would have to be the later gem pick of that draft, what an absolute steal that was, hes a bloody dynamo, jeez id love him in a black n white jumper, bloody kid and already a Finals star. _________________ Poverty exists not because we cannot feed the poor, but because we cannot satisfy the rich.

Top 10 in the 2018 draft from memory.
EDIT: Pick 7. |

Bailey DALE was pick # 45. Had a super year after going from the forward line to the back line. Hopefully with our new coaches, we can find a positional change or two that also elevates a players performances through the roof.
Bailey SMITH, the superstar that he is, was pick # 7. There will be no player during this coming off season, who will work harder on his fitness that this kid. |

Seconded; and wouldn't it be great if AFL gave Welfare our QB match as well for 2022 onwards? I'd be glad to get rid of it, and both of them could try to out-scab each other on the gate [if there is any...] _________________ M I L L A N E 4 2 forever |
