This Morrison Goverment has no limits to lack of accountability and perpetuating corruption. There is such a long list. This amongst many others. So many to choose from so little time. _________________ “I even went as far as becoming a Southern Baptist until I realised they didn’t keep ‘em under long enough” Kinky Friedman |

Obviously not enough happening in the world so the ABC is going through every cent this government has given anyone to find a story.
Wonder if they’ll do the same for all governments?
Maybe the ABC is just upset they got it so cheaply, unions donate millions every year to the ALP in the hope they’ll one day be back in government and they’ll call it in. Just look at Andrews in Victoria.
It’s really hard to understand what everyone gets so upset by given it’s rife in politics yet you only want to focus on one party doing it. |

Massive corruption exposed: $880,000 of YOUR money handed over in exchange for a $1500 bribe. And you blame the media reporting it! _________________ Let's eat Grandma. Commas save lives! |

Mate as you know that's just the start. The sports rorts hasn't finished yet. The Great Barrier Reef funding with Josh forking over money without tender to fossil fuel interests is spectacular not only in in the breathtaking arrogance but bypassing experts such as the CSIRO and other Marine bodies. THis is just the beginning.

Some of us actually support parties that want to see the whole rotten political donation system done away with, so it’s not good enough to say "both sides do it". Stuff like this is a major scandal and it should be – it’s political corruption 101.
Dutton in particular is a typical "tough on crime" hypocrite: it’s jackboots for the common citizen and powerless foreigners, but impunity for him and his mates behind closed doors. There’s no cognitive dissonance here; his only philosophy is power. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

In the same article.
Quote: | Mr Dutton agreed to the department seeking a costing for the association's proposal from the Finance Department on December 11, 2018.
It was assessed by the Department of Industry in February 2019.
The Home Affairs Department's briefing to Mr Dutton says that the Business Grants Hub assessed the application "with satisfactory scores against each of the three merit criteria" and recommended that the funding be approved. They noted that the application "represents value for money and a proper use of Commonwealth resources".
On March 14, 2019, Mr Dutton approved the funding grant, following the advice from his department. |
So while there is definite grounds for a perceived conflict of interest, in the end it was approved based on advice from those who assess them.
Quote: | The CEO of the association, Dominique Lamb, told 7.30 in an interview that the grant funding was able to deliver the Protecting Crowded Places program, an educational initiative to assist retailers in responding to armed offender incidents, reaching a total of more than 48,000 retail workers. |
Seems like reasonable value for money. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

Compared to the billions of dollars the Victorian government has paid out to thank the Unions for their contributions to the Labor party and getting Dan elected it’s nothing!
Unless you’re going to ban political contributions, I’m sure you’ll find a lot of money given to people who’ve donated to a political party on both sides.
But it just gives you all something else to whinge about because the majority of Australians don’t agree with your views. |

David, please don't fall for the "both sides do it" lie. Yes, lie.
One side does almost all of it. Dutton's side.
Is there corruption on the Labor side? Sure there is. A pitifully small amount. Round figures, it is ten times less common and for ten times smaller amounts. And most of the bad stuff the Labor side does is inward-looking (faction vs faction and similar) which is very often no skin off your nose or mine. Compare with the other mob, where most of the corruption is squarely aimed at dudding the taxpayer - i.e., you.
Pretending that "both sides do it" when more than 90% of the offenders are Liberal-Nationals or fellow travellers like Palmer is unacceptable. _________________ Let's eat Grandma. Commas save lives! |

Eddie, if you are going to make stuff up, at least invent a vaguely plausible-sounding lie. That one was laughably daft. _________________ Let's eat Grandma. Commas save lives! |

Really? Are you going to claim unions don’t donate millions to the Labor party or that the Andrew’s government doesn’t look after them? |

Eddie, educate yourself. Read some basic history.
The Labor party exists because of and for unions. In a very real sense, it is unions. Years ago, working men and women joined unions to protect themselves and when that proved not to be enough, they got together and formed a political party to look after ordinary working people, which they called the Labor Party. It still exists.
The Labor Party was founded to enact policies favourable to working people. That is its job, FFS. That is what is it there for. (If you don't like working people, you are free to vote for the other party of your choice.)
Organised groups of working people called "trade unions" founded a political party to advance and defend their interests, and they continue to support their party, which only exists because of them and is required by both rules and long-established custom to help working people.
Complaining about the Labor Party being worker-friendly is like complaining about a cook preparing meals. _________________ Let's eat Grandma. Commas save lives! |

Yep, Labor is totally entwined with the Unions, both historically and within it's governance now and moving forward
Their problem, veering off topic while we're talking about labor, is that as Union membership and relevance has steadily declined, so has Labor's share of the Primary Vote certainly federally anyway. Positioning themselves as "The Worker's party" doesn't fly anymore, they need more. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |
