YES. Players are getting cut from AFL lists at an unseen rate.
So, they can play for minimum wage in a compromised AFL world, or return to the real world where there is no cash unless you are on the Scomo-Scholarship, or can fluke a 40 hour a week real job somewhere.
They could try their luck in the local or country leagues, but I doubt there is much spare coin there either. _________________ M I L L A N E 4 2 forever |

That DFA period concluded yesterday and neither any of our delisted players found new homes as well as we picked up no DFA,s
As some one pointed out our salary cap is very precarious and last thing we want is buying beyond our salary cap means
Be interesting how we get our list to AFL requirements _________________ I'm not arguing--just explaining why i am right |

Agree Piedsy. The Wombat burrowed in for the ball like few others. We have lost Adz from the midfield, and now delisted Wills. Surely we are stripping our midfield naked?? Sidey next year surely wont play midfield fully. WTF are we thinking? Are we relying solely on Sier to help Tay out? Yep, there are others I think we could have afforded to lose before Wombat. |
Wills did not get enough injuries to stay on the list. He was too robust. _________________ Buon Giorno |

Always too slow to make it on a AFL list. About the same size as Patrick Cripps but not as quick (and Patrick Cripps isn't quick). A brilliant VFL player though. Crocker is another who's a brilliant VFL player. They just don't cut it as AFL players. |

Well, the AFL Delisted Player Free Agency Period 2 has closed.
Nothing happened.
I dont think there's a third DFA period. The ND, rookie and PSD could be the only way now for some of the delisted players. _________________ A Goal Saved Is 2 Goals Earned! |

It has to come down to the cut list sizes. I was expecting a few players to be signed up around the league. And I really thought the Pies would sign at least one player.
I guess if we're looking at recycled, then we're taking them in the rookie draft? _________________ A Goal Saved Is 2 Goals Earned! |

There's a decreased number of DFA signings each year, and with the reduction to list sizes, it's worse this year.
I still think we'll pick 1 or 2 up, but we're keeping the options open to see how the draft shakes out. The plan may be to pick 4 in the ND and then a couple DFAs, but if a kid we rate slips and we have a pick, we'll be flexible and take him.
With no under age footy for Vic, there's likely going to be big differences between teams player rankings so a lot of predictive draft ranges for players are going to be quite wide... |
