^ Buckley must be a cat. He's had at least 9 lives so far and surely he's on his last now. If he wasn't a club legend he would have been sacked 5 years ago. |

He is starting to run out of time now.
I wish Eddie McGuire would go first though.
He is a blight on our club now, taints us badly in the media and with the general public. _________________ Social club member 7342 since 2000. |

Any chance anyone on here could come up with a legitimate replacement or are we not concerning ourselves with that small detail ?
And please don’t cop out with the usual “ anyone “ retort.
Anyone would include Pyle and Bolton for starters.

Generally a premiership window is open 3-4 years. I feel we are in the 3rd year. It won’t last too much longer. If he doesn’t snag a flag this year or next after 10 seasons he won’t be around for the next rebuild. _________________ Human behavioural studies suggest people who use a lot of swear words tend to be more honest & trustworthy. |

^ The calls to sack Buckley are premature, but everyone is entitled to their opinion.
I'd like Buckley to see this process through to the end. He inherited Malthouse's team, and then set out about building his own team which nearly won us a flag in 2018. I don't think the window is shut on this list, but a lot of work needs to be done to turn it around.
Buckley is contracted until the end of 2021. He won't leave this year because of the unusual circumstances of the events surrounding this year, but I think 2021 could be his final chance. It will then be up to the club to decide which direction we take from there. I can't think of many senior coaches (excluding Malthouse) who haven't won a flag within 10 years of their reign at one club. _________________ | 1902 | 1903 | 1910 | 1917 | 1919 | 1927 | 1928 | 1929 | 1930 | 1935 | 1936 | 1953 | 1958 | 1990 | 2010 | 2023 | |

Buckley has delivered nothing in 10 years, what makes you think anyone would be worse?
Name us a premiership coach who coached over 10 years before winning their first premiership... |

Just as there wouldn’t be a coach in history who deserved to be sacked after his last two years took a team deep into Sept.
You would have had Thompson and Hardwick long gone before they became dual premiership coaches for their clubs.
If Collingwood were going to move him on, it should have been 3 years ago. They didn’t and the rest is very recent history.
I’m still waiting on a legitimate replacement ? The general idea in coaching is that when you replace a coach, you have at least a shortlist of better options to go with ( even though there are no guarantees of course ) |

I think Buckley's record and how the list is tracking at the end of next year will decide his fate.
Eddie on the other hand is the one on thin ice in my opinion. He has been our president since 1998 making him our longest serving president. I don't believe one flag in twenty one years warrants such a long reign in the top job. He's secured his place in our club's history. He should move on. |

If he announced his intention to step down at the end of a given season people would throw their hats in the ring. |
