Meanwhile... we still need a forward line.
Lloyd reckons the Pies are favourites but he "can't trust" Mihocek and Cox. He points to Mihocek's very bad finals performances. |

Well, I've crossed Sidebottom off my list of potentials for this role, at least temporarily.

A cruel blow for Howe and our club.
He's our general in defence and was playing as well as he ever has.
The simple reality is none of the possible ins will be able to play up to the same level in his defensive role but someone already within the 22 like Moore potentially can so looking for another key defensive option to fill that void might be the best way to go.
It might not be the sexy choice but I suspect it will be Madgen who is the obvious selection choice for this round given he's already been preferred ahead of others this season and has been maintained as an emergency in recent weeks.
While he can't be considered for this week depending on the opposition Dunn with his experience and strength might yet be called upon if we need to counter a tall opposition forward line.
Scharenberg might well have just been handed his best chance to jump start his career. While he doesn't possess the same athletic attributes as Howe his ability to read the play and outpoint those 3rd tall forward types in a marking situation means he potentially offers some of the same strengths that Howe provided. Needs to show more dare with his ball use.
I'm a fan of young Murphy and his potential but after his first two seasons of development were seriously hampered with injury and his 3rd due to COVID-19 restrictions who knows if he has enough training track form on the board to win the confidence of selectors.
Keane has won admirers with his progression as an AFL footballer at VFL level but whether he's ready to step up to the big time is a great unknown to us fans.
I'm skeptical that Langdon is anywhere near close to resuming at AFL level while young Quaynor as a small defender would see a more dramatic change in makeup to our defensive mix than any of the above so I haven't considered him a chance at present. _________________ He's mad. Went in for surgery today did Howey.
Walsh said they wont rule out a late season return based on the fact we have no idea when the season will actually finish in 2020. But I think he'll be out until '21. He'll definitely be right to go when we're in the 2021 pre-season. _________________ A Goal Saved Is 2 Goals Earned! |

^ He's irreplaceable.
Find someone with the leadership and physical attributes to cover his absence. _________________ | 1902 | 1903 | 1910 | 1917 | 1919 | 1927 | 1928 | 1929 | 1930 | 1935 | 1936 | 1953 | 1958 | 1990 | 2010 | 2023 | |

Scharenberg was really good tonight, first game back in a long time.
Unfortunately, I think we made a mistake in omitting Noble. We needed speed big time off HB, and Noble has this in spades, which would have more than made up for other deficiencies.
If Schazza is to be a replacement for Howe, then we need to make sure that we preserve pace off hb line.
You learn from your mistakes. _________________ Free Julian Assange!!
