This decision sucks ass.
Not like any dickheads actually turn up to watch these games anyhoo.
This is another bonafide ACB ballzup.
Default Shield given to NSW, just like the default baggy greens give to too many of their players over the last 40 years. _________________ M I L L A N E 4 2 forever |

I think those basic face masks would have sufficed for any travel, if anybody held any concerns. _________________ M I L L A N E 4 2 forever |

"Among other awards, Cricket Australia named Ashleigh Gardner as the Lord's Taverners Indigenous Player of the Year after she played a part in the women's side winning the Ashes as well as the T20 World Cup at home. Umpire Paul Wilson was awarded the umpire of the year following his debut in a Test match between Bangladesh and Afghanistan last September. He also stood in the BBL final.
Some other recognitions for the season included the One Day Cup players of the year, jointly given to Marnus Labuschagne and Usman Khawaja. Nicole Bolton was the Women's National Cricket League player of the year, Marcus Stoinis, the Big Bash League player of the year and Sophie Devine, the Rebel Women's Big Bash League player of the year. Finally, Tasmania won the men's Spirit of Cricket Award, while Australian Capital Territory, New South Wales and Tasmania shared the women's Spirit of Cricket Award."

From Cricket.com.au
Nic Maddinson's domestic resurgence has been capped with the former Test batsman named the winner of the Bill Lawry Medal as Victoria's Sheffield Shield Player of the Year on Thursday night.
In his second season with Victoria after moving from NSW, Maddinson was the leading run-scorer in the Shield with 780 runs at 86.66.
Australian captain Aaron Finch was named Victoria's one-day player of the year while rising star Annabel Sutherland won the Sharon Tredrea Award as Victoria's best player in the Women's National Cricket League. _________________ Donny.

Finch's one-day player of the year award no longer bears Deano's name, after Deano requested it be removed and his life membership terminated.
Neither he nor Vic. cricket are saying anything about the reasons, but he must have some huge grievances.
........................................
And across the border, S'OK has retired after NSW left him without a contract for next season. In retiring, S'OK repeated his calls for more (pitch) assistance to help the development of spinners in this country. He opines that Oz will not be able to win overseas without spinners, and that the conditions mean they are irrelevant (not his word) in the Sheffield Shield. He says he was the leading wicket-taker with only 15 (I think) wickets in just a handful of games.
........................................
And further north...
"On Wednesday, Neser received his third Ian Healy Trophy after being named as Queensland Bulls player of the year."
Neser had to give up his county contract with Surrey because of the pandemic. |

Not for long! Deano unleashed on radio:
https://www.theage.com.au/sport/cricket/crikdean-jones-blasts-poor-cricket-victoria-20200409-p54ijw.html
'Jones claimed former players like Shane Warne, Damien Fleming, Merv Hughes, Darren Berry and Simon O'Donnell all have some sort of axe to grind with Cricket Victoria.
Jones, who is the coach of Pakistan Super League side Karachi Kings, applied for the top jobs at the Stars and Renegades last year, but was overlooked in favour of David Hussey and Michael Klinger, neither of whom had previous senior coaching experience.
"These are proper blue-chip jobs to get but yet they've given jobs for the boys and I think it's an insult, not just to me, but overseas [candidates]," Jones said.' |

Khawaja was not given a new CA contract.
The best batsman in the country, Marnus Labuschagne, was unsurprisingly elevated to the 'elite 20-man group'.
Cricket Australia contract list:
Ashton Agar, Joe Burns, Alex Carey, Pat Cummins, Aaron Finch, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Marnus Labuschagne, Nathan Lyon, Mitchell Marsh, Tim Paine, James Pattinson, Jhye Richardson, Kane Richardson, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, Matthew Wade, David Warner.
https://www.theage.com.au/sport/cricket/khawaja-misses-out-on-cricket-australia-contract-20200430-p54oil.html
[Does the "elite 20-man group" have to be 20 men? The list looks like 18 players to me. Many of those 18 are flattered by the description "elite", of course, but it's all relative, isn't it?] |
