That's a hard one! Slumdog Millionaire was okay; Million Dollar Baby was pretty good. Otherwise, I dunno... American Beauty? Honestly, I've only seen one of the last ten Oscar Best Picture winners, so perhaps I'm not the best person to ask! _________________ "Every time we witness an injustice and do not act, we train our character to be passive in its presence." – Julian Assange |

Despite all the noise, Joker is up for a number of nominations including Pheonix for best actor.
Not a snooze fest, damn good movie I thought _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

I'm still struggling with how the academy members decided that the piece of shit "Forrest Gump", was better than "Shawshank Redemption", back in 1995? _________________ M I L L A N E 4 2 forever |

I must be the only person on earth who's never seen the Shawshank redemption, I did watch Forest Gump though and enjoyed the shrimp at Bubba Gump on Santa Monica Pier _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

I could not agree more! I’ve tried to like it, watched it again recently cos hubby was and no Foxtel at the other house, it’s all right but not brilliant, shawshank redemption is brilliant, watched it at least 6-7 times, I get something new from it every time, just so good! Stui you would enjoy it. Million dollar baby is pretty good, but I prefer his other hit grand Torino, it’s a no for slum dog! Not bad but nothing special _________________ You cant fix stupid, turns out you cant quarantine it either! |

Parasite wins best director and best international film so far. Should win best film too; it’s a ripper. _________________ “I even went as far as becoming a Southern Baptist until I realised they didn’t keep ‘em under long enough” Kinky Friedman |

"Shawshank Redemption" or "Pulp Fiction" should have won best picture instead of "Forrest Gump". _________________ | 1902 | 1903 | 1910 | 1917 | 1919 | 1927 | 1928 | 1929 | 1930 | 1935 | 1936 | 1953 | 1958 | 1990 | 2010 | 2023

It's cool now to hate on Forrest Gump but it made $678M with a $55M budget, people loved that movie and Jenny is the most evil female character in cinema history |

Forrest Gump was a good movie, but I just think the other two I mentioned were better. Shawshank is considered one of the best movies ever.
1994 had a lot of great movies overall. _________________ | 1902 | 1903 | 1910 | 1917 | 1919 | 1927 | 1928 | 1929 | 1930 | 1935 | 1936 | 1953 | 1958 | 1990 | 2010 | 2023

Cool or not, I sure do hate Forrest Gump! Managed to avoid it until the age of 20 when a work colleague convinced me that I needed to see it. That's a lesson to me for trying to be open-minded.
Never seen The Shawshank Redemption, but have a feeling it might not be my thing. I'm not much of a Tarantino fan, but Pulp Fiction has its merits and probably would have been a worthy winner that year. _________________ "Every time we witness an injustice and do not act, we train our character to be passive in its presence." – Julian Assange |
