Who plays, Symonds or Katich? Or do they go with an extra bowler (Tait or Williams). Katich for me.
Your thoughts... |

There's not much of an argument, really. Katich will come in for Symonds.
Symonds was a gamble and a bit of insurance, as a third seamer and offie if Warne didn't come up. He wasn't really needed in either capacity. They just seemed to go with the winning line up for the second Test.
The look of the wicket will decide MacGill's fate. Any sign of life may well see MacGill replaced by another seamer, probably Williams. _________________ Donny.

Gee tough choice......NOT
Katich should never have been dropped in the first place. Symonds was picked on ONE day form.......and thats a mistake as the two forms of the game are different. An all rounder who does nothing......lol
Symonds should go back to the Pura Cup and earn his stripes.

The argument may be Katich or MacGill. Symonds provides variation with slow medium and offies. Katich is a whole different ball game. He spins the ball the other way and his direction of attack is entirely different. He would be an important addition to combat the left handers in the SL team. _________________ Do not adjust your mind. The fault is in reality. |

In that case Canberra, I'd say Katich. |

It will be up to the Chairman of Selectors Ricky Ponting to decide. But im sure if he is given enough chances Symonds will make one decent score and may take one bag of wickets. How in that time Katich more than likely performed better but we may never know unless Ponting chooses to pick him.
Maybe Katich went to the wrong state ?? I think QLD should be the new destination.

Remember, JLC, Katich was picked 'out of the blue' when he replaced an injured Darren Lehmann for the Sydney Test against Zimbabwe.
It was also a gamble. _________________ Donny.

Yes but it was not as big a gamble as picking Symonds.
But you are right in the sense that there have been quite a few selections out of the blue while performances in the Pura Cup go unrewarded. It seems the quickest way into the Test Arena is through the one day team and that is WRONG.

I was always of the opinion that Symonds should not have replaced Katich in the team in the first place. Nothing that has happened in the first two tests has changed my mind. Unfortunately Australia has consistently refused to change a winning team so expect Symonds to play the third test as well. |

I agree that Katich was very unlucky to be dropped but as labrooy has mentioned I think they will still go with Symonds. A shame really as Katichs form leading into this series was bloody good. Still, I hope Roy does well if picked. |
