I have a pal on FB who was adamant about Bolton being the "next Clarkson". Carlton are "in good hands". The same friend who said Buckley should be sacked. He's "had his time".
After a quick search, I found an old post on the subject. Just left a fresh comment. _________________ A Goal Saved Is 2 Goals Earned! |

"Bolton's interim successor is expected to be one of assistant coaches David Teague, John Barker - who's had a previous start as caretaker coach after the sacking of Mick Malthouse - and Dale Amos.
...
He has a winning record of just 20.78 per cent, the third-lowest of any senior VFL/AFL coach to have led for at least 60 games.
Bolton has led the Blues to just 16 wins from 77 games." |

Takeaways:
Bolton is emotional. He strongly hints he wants to continue coaching.
Teague is stand-in coach.
LoGiudice will not stand down.
Carlton have not approached or spoken to any other coach.
Robert Walls was not asked what he thought.

That press conference was a shambles. That President is the worst media performer in the AFL. He repeatedly pushed the message that they’re on the right track and will not deviate from their plan... whatever it is. We can look forward to more misery at Carlton for many years to come whilst he is President. _________________ 'Collingwood are the Bradmans of Football'

Baum:
"If he had single failing, reputedly it was that he kept the players under too tight a rein. If it had brought success, it might have been tolerated. But it didn't, which meant the traces pinched tighter still.
Could Bolton have avoided this fate? Yes, with wins. It's that simple. For all that has changed and evolved in footy, the winning imperative has not."

Is Silvagni really such a poor judge of young talent or is it just wishful thinking on the part of sum?
He did a better job with the GWS list build than the highly respected Clayton at the Suns.
I actually feel the young talent on Carlton's list now is very good, would be appealing to any candidate and if they can install a competent senior coach this time it could be pushing for a top 8 spot by 2021.
Granted Silvagni has had access to a host of valuable draft selections at GWS and Carlton so has little excuse.
The biggest knock on him would be his record of trading when it comes to recycled players and especially those coming out of GWS.
In his defence Carlton haven't exactly been a destination club in his time.
While I get absolutely no joy out of being seen defending Silvagni or Carlton I kind of feel today's news was a win for them, a loss for us and I'll be pleasantly staggered if the rebuild doesn't take this time around.
Of course they could always appoint Voss and subvert my expectations. _________________ He's mad. He's bad. He's MaynHARD! |

Think North Melbourne's decision to sack Brad Scott accelerated Bolton's demise.
Bolton was already struggling to justify his coaching position beyond this year due to his appalling win-loss record, but Carlton are probably of the belief they need to find the right coach as soon as possible or else they'll left with a substandard coach again, and they didn't want North or any other club to get a head start on them. _________________ | 1902 | 1903 | 1910 | 1917 | 1919 | 1927 | 1928 | 1929 | 1930 | 1935 | 1936 | 1953 | 1958 | 1990 | 2010 | 2023

Funny that Carlton have sacked five coaches in a row.
Wayne Brittain (2002)
Denis Pagan (2007)
Brett Ratten (2012)
Mick Malthouse (2015)
Brendon Bolton (2019)
The club is a deathtrap for prospective coaches. _________________ | 1902 | 1903 | 1910 | 1917 | 1919 | 1927 | 1928 | 1929 | 1930 | 1935 | 1936 | 1953 | 1958 | 1990 | 2010 | 2023

It will be if the new coach is more competent than the last.
The golden age of Carlton being putrid on field is nearing the end so enjoy it while it lasts.
It would have lasted longer under Bolton. _________________ He's mad. He's bad. He's MaynHARD! |
