Stayed very close to it when in Paris a couple of years ago but never went in due to the ridiculously long queues every time we walked past. Now I almost regret not waiting in the queues. _________________ kill for collingwood! |

One of my best mates and the bloke I used to go to the footy with Dad passed away yesterday after a battle with cancer.
The whole family with Mum excepted are mad Collingwood and Wangaratta Magpies fans.
His grandson was a poster on here but stopped a few years ago.
Graeme was 90 and had bowel cancer. His wife has a form of dementia and was in the bed next to him in hospital after breaking her wrist.
Graeme would drive down as many weeks as he could but stopped a few years ago because he was not comfortable driving at night.
He retired a s prison warder at Beechworth about 12 years ago. He was good mates with the warden who let him pick his own roster.
In one of the early ANZAC day matches on a saturday we were killing them. My mate and his brothers and nephews would stand but Graeme and his daughter would sit. At half time we were well in front. Rocca was kiliing them. Graeme wandered over to M11 where we were standing to see his 2 sons who live in Melbourne and us of course. Graeme said how is it going "Not bad Graeme except for this arsehole behind us. He has not stopped since we ran on the ground and the language is just unnecessary". With that the motormouth who was on his 10th bourbon piped up with "I ought to smash everyone of you skunk supporters" Graeme looked around and said "that him" Yeah mate. Graeme called out "Webster, get here, now, empty that drink and stand there" with that Graeme summoned a copper. The dickhead was on day release from Beechworth prison . The rules were "Not to go more than 20 kms from the prison, not to associate with known criminals and not to drink" Coppers took him to the watchouse and his 3 mates took off . The whole are area including bombers fans were cheering.
Graemes son also worked as a warder at Beechworth. On Monday the prisoner van turns up and the dickhead is marched straight into the Wardens office. The Warden pulled out a footy fixture and said Webster you are going to extra duties and will be on work detail, without access to tv or radio, on the following times and dates. Which coincided with every Essendon game for the rest of the season. He was also barred from day release until after the footy season. The idiot who signed him out was barred from signing anyone out ever again. He also lost about 2 months of sentence reduction as he was in for drunken antisocial behaviour in the first place.
RIP mate. Floreat Pica. _________________ Annoying opposition supporters since 1967. |

Great story Ron, I like that warden's style.
He had a good innings, remember the good times and stories like that. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

Our Buxy cat has been growing little benign mast cell tumours for the last 10 years or so - excised with a bit of discomfort but all good.
She's grown another - this time not so good it's malignant and invasive.
Could try chemo but she is 17 with dodgy kidneys - so nope not putting her through that!
Heartbroken more than sad! |

Bugger. I'm not a cat person, but 17 years is a good innings.
Practical response is best, doesn't make it easy though. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |
