I cant wait for him to make the transition from half forward to midfield. |
Good at what he does well, but lacks a bit when it comes to doing the simple things, the basics. Certainly not ready for a permanent on-ball gig.
The lack of defensive running is only part of it. A couple of glaring examples are him receiving or calling for the ball flat-footed repeatedly and trying to take chest marks with an opponent up his clacker.
Use him where his attributes help the team most, a raging bull around half-forward. _________________ "I am a great sage, equal of heaven.

Agreed that is the case right now but I don't think everything has clicked for De Goey just yet. When or if it does his ceiling for improvement is very high. If we see this potential reached he will be best used in the middle. |

I thought he should have been give 10 minutes in the midfield and at centre bounces on Monday when Melbourne started to get on top in the clearances in the 3rd quarter. _________________ Human behavioural studies suggest people who use a lot of swear words tend to be more honest & trustworthy. |

Well if the coaches would play him there, it may help.
We were getting smashed in the 3rd quarter, but still was not given any time in there.
I would also start giving Maynard time in there. Those two bulls could wreak havoc if only the coaches had some foresight. _________________ Jatsad - That is all |

Well that staggers me.
Hard to be a 2 way runner when confined to the half forward line.
It's not as if the other mids are great 2 way runners either. _________________ Jatsad - That is all |

Imagine where we'd be if he played the first six games. Probably higher up the ladder. Really impressed with his game today. |

Probably the first time I have seen a single player turn a game upside down and a half since Peter Daicos kicked seven against Carlton in 1990. We have found our Dusty Martin, I think. _________________ Two more flags before I die! |

I heard people talking about trading him when he had the incident with his hand.I thought it was ridiculous because I always saw the potential in him. |

There were plenty on here who reckon we should have gone with two metre Peter ( GCS ) in the draft instead of DeGoey.
His last few games have certainly showed why he was picked at 5.
It's up to him, he has to want to continue to be the best he can or he will never fulfil his true potential. |

I reckoned a couple of years ago that he could be our Nat Fyfe and I still reckon that's the case. He has all the attributes....as long as he wants it bad enough. If he continues to play like that I'd love to see him promoted to the leadership group next year, as I reckon he's the sort of player who would thrive on the added responsibility. Without doubt, de Goey is de Gun. |
