Spoke to Eddie tonight at the member forum. Asked about Star Athletic. Consider it as good as gone.
When challenged to bring a big brand back to Pieland (Adidas, Nike, Under Armour...) he went red, and after a few f-bombs, it was clear the 'big' brands have shafted us in the past (cost, supply, difficult to work with).
When asked why our apparel stinks compared to US and international pro sports apparel, he was aware of this too, and blamed the AFL for the generic, cheap crap (with a few more f-bombs thrown in for good measure).
I don't know if he had a solution, _________________ Est. 2002 |

Surprised Eddie f-bombed in a public forum? Interesting... _________________ M I L L A N E 4 2 forever |

Sorry, I didn't make it clear. It wasn't during the actual 'forum'. It was post forum with drinks, mingling and informal chats with Eddie, Hine and co. Eddie was 'off the clock' at this stage. _________________ Est. 2002 |

So we were getting shafted by adidas for approx. 15 years??? I think it was 1997 to 2012, or there abouts.
On a side note, there was a rumor going around in the middle of the year that Under Armour was going to kit out an AFL team but this was canned after pursuing English Premier League teams. _________________ Magpie Jumper Gallery:

Not sure if anyone else notices these sort of things or not - I will never forgive Addidas for that stupid semi-circle on the back of our premiership jumper in 2010.
Black & white stripes!! That's it!!
(Would've been filthy if we had have had the silly looking cut-off "spikey" stripes that Hawthorn have this year via Addidas.) _________________ "I am a great sage, equal of heaven.

Oh, we notice. The bastardisation of jumpers is a joke. The coloured ad sponsor on the backs of guernseys is also a joke. Should be limited to club colours (e.g. "Emirates" or "CGU" should have to be white on our black back, or black on our white back). The green CGU panel is horrible.
The reason for Hawthorn's cut-off may be due to the material seam being angles for some stupid reason (or maybe the design dictates the seam). Either way, atrocious.
Our weird underchin 'bib' panel on the 2010 guernsey was also ludicrous. _________________ Est. 2002 |

I'm glad someone else notices this as well!
I really do think people get a bit nostalgic for Adidas, or just want then back because they're a "name", because we can't possibly be seen in anything else other than a "name" brand, can we?
Personally, I was glad to see Adidas go. Got sick in the end of their little arrows and squiggles and doodles all over our jumper. Black and white, three stripes front, three half stripes back with a number. That's it How freekin' hard is that?
As for Star imploding, this has been an open secret for a few months now. No big loss to see them go. And they can take that silly Magpie tramp stamp with them while they're at it. _________________ I am vengeance. I am the night. I am MagpieBat. |

Yes Taylor Adams will need one as well. Make sure it has stripes on the sleeves though. When we played the dogs the first time he had plain black sleeves. Never seen that before or since. _________________ woodsmen rule |

Under Armour has the Midas touch ATM. Steph Curry and Jordan Speith. If they want to tap into the Oz market we'd be a perfect fit. _________________ 'Collingwood are the Bradmans of Football'

Under Armour would be fantastic but can’t see it happening.
Will probably go with a supplier already involved in football. _________________ - Side By Side - |
