Not that we want any of them, just saying they've got plenty of others over 30 and others 29ish. |
I reckon they'll still believe they're in their window so will hold quite a few of them. |
They know their window is already shut, which is why they are off-loading these guys now. If they thought for one moment they'd have a chance for a flag next year, Boomer would be retained, as he is currently one of their best players. |
Happy to agree to disagree. They have developing replacements for all the players they've let go thus far, even Harvey. |
A pretty good thread from me Jackcass?? |
Not before time, that makes 1 from ????
Still not sure why it's here as a stand alone thread instead of either being consolidated into the delisting thread or moved to "other AFL" board. |

Scott's treatment of boomer was a disgrace.
If the player was slowing down, injury prone, or struggling to make an impact then the club would have been correct to sack him, even after 450 games. However, in this case, Boomer is currently one of their best players and the stats suggest this is his best year ever, in terms of possessions and goals. I've always thought both Scott brothers were smart arses and this just confirms it. Weak as piss imo. |

I think if you think about this dispassionately, then it's the right decision. Harvey is playing well, but he has only one season left in him. Scott needs to reinvent this team, so playing Harvey is taking 22 games away from another player. |

have been told they won't be offered contracts next season. Boomer is apparently shattered. Don't be surprised if Hawks come sniffing as Clarko is a big fan. At 38 years of age his form is still brilliant. Can't tell me he wouldn't be better than Blair.
Maybe an Assistant coaching playing role for a year. |
Can your source give me tomorrow nights powerball numbers?
nice dude |
5 (Nathan)
7 (Treloar)
10 (Pendlebury)
25 (Billy Picken)
26 (Brown)
35 (Daicos)
Supplementary numbers:
22 (Jason Wild)
9 (Jon Ballantyne) |
Haha!! Love it!!
Almost the exact same as mine and the reasons too - change 25 to 40 (Shawn Kemp '90s NBA player), and the reason for 7 (most wickets I ever took, was an under 14 game. I don't bowl in senior cricket. ) _________________ "I am a great sage, equal of heaven.

The corporate world has taken over footy. It's sad.
The club in question has been in the competition 91 years for 4 flags.
They are incredibly hard to win and you need a bit of luck to go with outstanding planning, coaching and putting a good side together.
So that shows that footy clubs aren't about winning premierships even though that is the ultimate goal, they are about people and giving people something to feel a part of.
"Winning culture", etc, evolves from there.
If Chris Scott (or whichever brother it is) thinks delisting a 430 game player that is in the best half dozen players he has simply because he's 38, is going to get his side any closer to a premiership over the next 5 years, then he (and whoever else made the decision with him) is absolutely kidding himself.
Take the emotion out of a footy club and one may as well follow the International Chess League or something.
(Chess, great game to play, but would rather stick needles in the eyes than be a spectator.) _________________ "I am a great sage, equal of heaven.

Why has Harvey only got one more year in him? I've heard that about him for the past 5 years. He's as fast as ever, and is playing better than ever. If you ignored his birth certificate and judged him on form and performance I'd back him in for another 2 years at least. The guy is a freak. |

Amazing stuff from inxs88 to have the inside scoop before the media reported on it.
I understand North's position in some way because they've put all their eggs into one basket by targeting experienced players in the last few years who they thought would win them a flag, and now this won't happen.
If I was a part of the North Melbourne board, I would have retained Boomer because he's still playing at a high standard and he seems to be the heart and soul of the club at the moment. Younger players look up to him so it's a harsh call moving him on despite his age.
While Firrito, Petrie and Dal Santo (since 2014) have been good servants for the club, I think North has made the right call with these players. _________________ | 1902 | 1903 | 1910 | 1917 | 1919 | 1927 | 1928 | 1929 | 1930 | 1935 | 1936 | 1953 | 1958 | 1990 | 2010 | 2023 | |
