Why use the trade forum for this topic for? He's gone now. Trade's done. This should be open for general duscussion now.
Totally shocked they got rid of him. Champion in the making. |

If he was going to be a champion he would have shown more by now. However he will be a good player, particularly in a team that is not so loaded with quality midfielders like Collingwood. Best of luck Scoots. |

I'm really worried about Carlton next year. They've traded really well |

I think it was poor result for us and our negotiating was on par with our GF coaching... Scoots is worth a lot more than pick 35. _________________ How would Siri know when to answer "Hey Siri" unless it is listening in to everything you say? |

Yes, I agree Bucks 5. I think a top 20 pick at least. Carlton have done well they still have pick 2.
I think the problem was that Scots was unhappy with his situation at the Pies. He has a great chance to establish himself now, with a great coach and a few talented players around him. I hope he does well.
A bit miffed at missing out on Stevens but isn't it great to stuff up the power again.
I'm sure the younger brigade will step up and feel more secure. _________________ bibi |

Small question:how did Carlton manage to trade so well?Didn't they get caught last year with overpaying players to much etc. I thought the penalty was draft picks or something for 2 yrs. Could someone explain this to me,how trade works etc.
anyway, good luck to Heath. _________________ Jarrod Molloy

He wanted out at the end of 2002 but was talked into sticking it out for another year, but now that he has moved on to bluer pastures, he'll be given the chance to settle into a position which will allow him to regain his confidence.
He always got plenty of the ball when playing as a midfielder for Williamstown. His disposal is still not spot on when under pressure, but this will improve when he gets more senior experience. However, a player who can kick as well as he does on both sides of his body can be a valuable contributor to any side.
I felt that he tended to drop his intensity as the game wore on, but a solid pre-season and an injury free run should see this area of his game improve as well.
Heath deserves to get consistent ground time at the highest level, and this was something he wouldn't get at Collingwood. I would have preferred to see one or two others go before Heath, but Heath needs to get opportunities NOW, before his career is over before it really begins. _________________ Whale

Scoots wanted to go to Carlton. Pick 35 was their highest pick apart from pick 2, and no-one would suggest that Scotland was worth that.
Collingwood asked him to stick for one more year, which he did, and released him to the club of his choice when he still wanted to go. I think Collingwood did the right thing both by asking him to stay and by letting him go the following year.
BTW, the AFL stated that Carlton were not able to trade for or with first and second round draft picks, so Collingwood could not insist on a deal involving higher picks with Carlton. |

The club did the right and ethical thing by Scoots. They actually let him go to the club of his choice regardless of the inherent loss in the deal with the scum. Obviously we could have got better than #35 if we hawked him around the AFL. But they did the right thing, with no animosity, to a player who served them well. Unlike other clubs - port in particular, who negotiated with closed, twisted minds, preconceived ideas, outdated attitudes and with a distinct lack of moral fibre. |
