Treloar and Aish I think will be fine.
What concerns me is our lack of overall class and pace
In hindsight we should have gone for youth instead of these duds
Lynch
Russell
Young
Karnezis
White
Now we are paying the price |

I think you should analyze what was given up in getting these players. the truth is, very little. Would be surprised if any of these moves inhibited out ability to get a good player to the club. _________________ Ohhh, the Premiership's a cakewalk ....... |

Treloar and Aish are guns
You think we should not have recruited them
Instead we should have picked some gun kids
Can you see the contradiction? |
Treloar looks the goods, but we effectively paid a R7 last year and possibly this year a R5 or R6 pick. In other words Treloar is worth a De Goey and a Moore. can you imagine the uproar if those two were traded for a single player.
Aish may very well end up being a gun, but to say his performances so far have earned him that reputation is simply bewildering. He has yet to receive one brownlow vote |

I'm a strong advocate of always going to the draft rather than trading but I'd agree, none of those listed players cost too much and we were desperately in need of some senior experience to allow the youth time to develop. |

Some more, some less but what we paid them doesn't really have a lot of relevance to why we got them. Of them, I'd have thought that Patty K was the only 1 considered a long term prospect. Doubt White was ever more than a filler. |

I think they had big hopes for White personally. He was noted for his athleticism and untapped talent and he had a reasonable last year at Sydney and I think the club hoped he was just starting to realise that potential at a relatively advanced age and that we would reap the benefits of it.
Sadly Jesse doesn't have it between the ears to want to be a good footballer. Even in the VFL he didn't impose himself on the game despite being physically superior to practically everyone out there. |

The club went all in for 2016 to save Bucks
The only thing we have over rated is the coach.
Once he is gone - improvement will be swift - this is a top-8 list.
None of us doubt that. |

And yet almost no football experts picked us to play finals this year...it's a potential top 8 list if everything goes right this year...it hasn't. For the last three weeks we've put the youngest side in the afl on the park and we've played like it...go figure |

Yeah, not so sure our hopes for White were ever too great. Even his last year at the Swans only consisted on a few good games and 1 very good final. His form at the Pies has mirrored that. Not often a struggling 25-26 year old becomes a star, especially without mitigation like injuries. |

Yep, most of us had the Pies finishing somewhere between 5-12 purely because there was so much doubt. I for one still see that as our range for this season. Despite how poorly we've played 4 games into a long season is just way to early to be discounting any outcome. |

Look at most clubs and a lot of good players emerging are post pick 15, maybe we've just put too much effort in getting into the top ten we've deglected the rest?

I like the Players we Got in the 2 but Espically with Treloar we paid a Big Price

The OP's premise is wrong. Treloar and Aish are perfect targets even for a developing side as they are both very young. Going to the draft is far more of a risk and we have already invested heavily in previous seasons. This was the year to sacrifice draft picks for quality and in the case of Treloar it's already clear we made a very good decision.
And this talk that our list is now no good is really an overreaction to a bit of poor form. _________________ Well done boys! |
