RE: Jake Kelly. (And I could be incorrect with some of these points, but....)
He was "promised" a spot on the rookie list if no one took him in the ND.
I think the Pies knew he was going to slip through to the RD.
However, a similar "promise" was made to Gault who had to be delisted and eventually redrafted in the RD. (We had one pick).
I believe a third player was "promised" a similar thing, I can't remember who it was, but he was not drafted by any club in either draft.
The Pies would have gone into the RD with three picks as Collingwood were expected to pass on one of pick 65 and 77, if not both. But to the clubs surprise, Tom Langdon and Jonathan Marsh were still available at those picks. (I suppose you could make the point that we could have used those picks for Gault/Kelly anyway).
Side note: Our next two picks were used to elevate Oxley and Dwyer off the rookie list. We delisted Richmond and Hartley off the rookie list as well.
So would it be correct in saying that Langdon and Marsh (Senior spots) were given priority over Kelly (rookie spot). And Gault was given the only rookie spot over Kelly.
It's somewhat of a shame, as Jake had been playing for the VFL team, but there just wasn't a selection there. If we had a second pick, we would have taken him. The jury is still out on how good he could be. But who knows, he might end up in the black and white someday. _________________ A Goal Saved Is 2 Goals Earned! |

RE: James Stewart. (Again I could, and probably, am wrong about some of this but...)
I think we would had to of nominated him before we had the picks traded in for Wellingham and Dawes.
We ended up with pick 18, 19 and 20 after the Crows relinquished their pick.
As we know, Stewart was taken at 27 by GWS. Our next pick was 38, which we used on Ramsay. (Im not sure how the bidding system worked back then, but I don't recall any type of bids made, or any talk about using pick 3.
So, if thats correct, then we could have used pick 19 to take him. We didn't. We used that pick to get BenKen. (18 was Grundy, 20 was Broomhead).
So right now, yes we'd rather have Stewart than Kennedy. Again, the jury is out on both those players and who knows, maybe we'll get him along with Treloar. _________________ A Goal Saved Is 2 Goals Earned! |

Well, it means they have permission to train at the clun. All 3 would be playing TAC this year, we may be able to play them in the VFL under that top up no more than 3 game gig but not sure how that works _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

So how did Darcy play as 23rd man if he wasn't from an aligned TAC side? _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

Is it --looking up situ it is called 23rd player rule.
Could not understand its workings but it says
player should be TAC player. _________________ I'm not arguing--just explaining why i am right |

That's the trick because our aligned TAC club is Murray Bushrangers.
So these three may be able to be played under the 23rd man rule if we want to, Risk factor obviously being if they perform well against men it could raise their price in father son bidding. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |
