Post subject: Bulldogs game plan 'leak' - did it cost them a final? | |
|
This is quite a scandal:
http://m.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/western-bulldogs-bring-in-afl-to-investigate-leak-to-adelaide-crows-20150922-gjsmi7.html
Quote: | The Western Bulldogs have asked the AFL to investigate the alleged leaking of sensitive game-day information by a Bulldogs player to Adelaide ahead of the elimination final.
The Bulldogs confirmed late on Tuesday that they had been made aware of the possibility that information relating to their game plan had found its way to the Crows.
It is understood defender Michael Talia, whose brother Daniel is the Adelaide full-back, is at the centre of the investigation.
Talia, who is out of contract and likely be traded, did not play in the last three games of the season, including the final in question.
Fairfax Media understands that the club had been concerned that information - specific to the elimination final - had been passed from younger to older brother. |
Adelaide only won the elimination final by 7 points. Was this the difference? And if so, what reparations could there be?
I vaguely recall that we had a similar case with Trent Hotton back in 1997. Does anyone remember what happened there? _________________ "Every time we witness an injustice and do not act, we train our character to be passive in its presence." – Julian Assange |

You mean someone seriously tried to tell another club about our 1997 gameplan?
So what was the secret - watch out, Buckley will try to kick it long to Rocca? |

Haha yes. I'm sure other clubs were lining up to figure Tony Shaw's coaching secrets.
It was Carlton, which might explain it. I think they were even worse than us that year! _________________ "Every time we witness an injustice and do not act, we train our character to be passive in its presence." – Julian Assange |

Footscray's secret finals secrets:
1. Lose final by five points, then tell everybody it was the greatest performance since the battle of Rorkes Drift.
2. Point out how many injuries the club sustained during the season making the plucky but futile finals loss...(see 1)
3. Find some schmuck who is stuck on 299 games, usually because no one will trade for him, then win a final just to get him to game 300...
4. Then...lose next final by a big margin, but at the same time because the team got our hero to game 300, it was (see 1)
5. If you have a half decent full forward, move him to centre half forward, then forget to recruit someone to play full forward. Better yet put someone undersized like Danny Delre or Brad Johnson at full forward and kick the ball high over his head...
6. And of course none of this matters because on Brownlow night Footscray reigns supreme...everyone knows that Brownlows are more important than premierships, or grand finals, or actual finals wins... |
