Speculation regarding trades for Treloar and Aish is abundant in the media.
How about:
Treloar for COL 1st, BRI 3rd and COL 3rd.
Aish and BRI 3rd for COL 2nd, COL 4th and Seedsman
Delist Keeffe, Thomas and Young and promote Frost.
Don't participate in National Draft.
Delist Armstrong from Rookie and pick up Keeffe and Thomas (or others if they are gone by our picks). _________________ All We Can Be |

My assessment FWIW is:
Rucks: 3 quality prospects - issue is they are all similar age and with Cox coming on quickly may be at similar development level come 2016. I didn't like when we played both Witts and Grundy. I'd be open to alternating Witts and Grundy between AFL/VFL and maybe play both against the weakest teams or when match ups suit (so say 15 AFL games each). The age profile does leave open the possibility of one of the 3 being traded and getting a cheap older backup ruck (eg Giles or Currie type).
Backs: Richmond game aside, I think our backs have been okay and we have a young group that were disrupted by injury in 2015 (Reid, Ramsey, Sinclair). Enough organic growth potential to leave it alone for me. Our points against was (at least before the Richmond game) premiership standard (below 86 pg) with a reasonable expectation of organic improvement in 2016.
Forwards: Well below premiership standard in 2015. Lack some finishing polish. Cloke and Moore will be the KPFs with possible 3rd talls from Reid, Goldsack and White. Elliott, Fasolo (when on song), Broomhead and Degoey I like up forward. Swan will spend more time forward as he gets older. What we miss for mine is the really classy finisher types to get reward for our grunt work - guys like Harley Bennell and Steve Johnson would be my prime targets in the offseason. I believe those two would add 2-4 goals per game and put us in the 8 and in the frame for top 4.
Mids: I'm concerned that Swanny still seems to be one of our best. Unlucky with injuries to Greenwood and Sidebottom in 2015, but I think we need more depth and more higher end talent so I understand the talk of Treloar and Aish and I would throw Redden in that mix as well.
Delist: Keeffe, Thomas (and if need be Young).
Potentially trade out: Karnezis (Haw), Oxley, Seedsman, Dwyer (all Bris), 2015 picks and acquired picks and 2016 1st. Witts (GwS) if it gets us currency for Treloar or Bennell.
Potentially trade in: Treloar, Bennell, Redden, Aish.
I posted some possible trade deals with draft value index calculations in another thread - depending on how GWS values Witts it could be doable assuming the players can be got for roughly their original draft pick value:
MightyMagpie wrote: | Instinctively I am against trading Witts, but if he can be used to gain the trio of Treloar, Bennell and Aish or even the duo of Treloar and Bennell then I think it would be worth consideration. Based on current ladder positions and rumours I've come up with the following possible trades:
Witts and COL 2015 3rd to GWS for GWS 2015 1st (net 1173 draft points = ~ pick #13/14)
Karnezis to HAW for HAW 2015 2nd (563 draft points = ~ pick #32/33)
COL 2015 1st and COL 2015 2nd for Treloar (2400 draft points = ~ pick #2/3)
HAW 2015 2nd and COL 2016 1st for Bennell (2207 draft points = ~ pick #3/4)
GWS 2015 1st and COL 2015 4th for Aish (1686 draft points = ~ pick #6/7)
Oxley, Seedsman and Dwyer for Redden (assuming Redden wants out and Brisbane need AFL-ready players willing to play for them)
Grab a backup ruck (eg Giles or Currie type) for cheap.
Look at Stevie Johnson as an FA if he is delisted.
Look at drafting/rookie listing a couple of KPF types from State leagues (eg Ash Close and Michael Still).
Probably getting slight overs for Witts and giving slight unders for Redden (I'm assuming the rumours he may want out are true). Other draft point index values look okay to me especially if the players are out of contract, nominate the Pies and have the option of going in the draft. |

Pretty much ideal if we want said players...me i'd be happy with one of Trelor/Aish and be going after a big......
But non participation in draft so it can be done this is the key...and should happen on a semi reg basis to keep list age profile in line and keep bottom out periods short instead of perpetual building. |

Many will disagree, but my trade priorities (in order) would be:
Bennell
Treloar
Redden
Aish
with Stevie J as an FA if available.
I haven't seen much of Aish so maybe I am under-rating him, but I think our needs are midfielders with classy finishing (ie goalkicking) skills. _________________ All We Can Be |

In treloar we must be looking at a long term swan replacement other wise his type, out and out mid, is not what we are lacking, we lack X and we lack another quality tall.
The one certainty about aish is class. |

I suspect you are correct that Treloar would be seen as a Swan replacement. _________________ All We Can Be |

For mine this could be a very good trading period for our future as there clubs who's needs/wants fall into what we can do deals with.
Firstly Treloar - GWS want/need a back up ruckman for Mumford. They are interested in Leuenberger but he is older and injury prone so if we wanted to we could offer up Witts.
They also need draft picks for there academy players. They apparently have a 2 guns there Mills or Wills I think and can't remember the other kids name. I'm not 100% sure how the bidding process works on academy players but I think they get a discount on matching any other draft pick nomination. So we might be able to trade our 1st round pick directly for Treloar.
Secondly Aish - The Lions are clearing the decks with players of experience such as Redden, Staker, Adcock, Leuenberger and Martin has indicated he is going to look a round as well so they are looking (according to rumours) and are interested in some ready made players who have youth on there side (apparently don't want any traded player to be over 25) so we have the likes of Seedsman, Kennedy, Oxley, Gault, Sinclair and a few others who may fit the bill. It could be to our advantage to deal with them to trade out 2/3/4 or a couple players and a 2rd draft pick to them for Aish and maybe Redden or exchange some draft picks upgrading there position.
They will take the young FF Schachie obviously so they might want another crack as early as possible.
I'm not sure how the draft value system mighty magpie set out but I think our position is strong this time round.
We need to fill some gaps and or get ready for some players in there twilight aka Swanny
I think Swanny will be more a forward than a mid over the next year or 2.
I see Aish & Treloar adding to our midfield which I believe in a couple years will be dynamic. I also see Scharenberg if he stays being a midfielder in the Pendles mould. He had that laconic look about him slow big striding gait with fat hands and mind. From pre draft reports he is a better than average kick but we are yet to see it but I think that's mainly due to his foot injuries and then a knee. Let's remember players take generally 18 months to fully recover for a knee and his is just 12 months and he hasn't had a preseason at AFL level yet.
I'm interested to see how this trade period plays out.
I think by our activity or lack of will tell us a lot about where the club and coach and recruitment see our list. |

Cheese mate so there's a 20% discount offered so the same would apply to us if we chose to go after Weideman as well I'm assuming.
The equal value system I think actually strengthens our position I I've read and understood it correctly.
Your obvisiouly more over this than me so would be best to hear your views on how wee are positioned |

Weideman isn't a father son selection option for us. Grandfathers don't count. |

I would not be trading Oxely. I think he is one of our better prospects. Elite kicking, good decision maker, good mark, good reader of the play. He is a little one paced, but the other aspects more than make up for it. |
