Good news:
1. It is Shingles
2. Basically it's having had chicken pox before & certain factors can trigger a reactivation.
3. The reactivation can be caused by a number of factors, such as stress e.g., an infection, cold flu where ones' immune system is depressed etc
4. It's contained to the hip / buttock region & behind the knee (a little bit there) - It follows the nerve root pathways
5. The pain I'm experiencing is there but is not the worst I've experienced before.
6. Pain & the experience of pain is subjective - for me so far so good
7. The dermatologist said it is quite unlikely although possible that I'll get the post infection neuropathic pain.
8. My pain subsided significantly after he bulk-billed me!! Fancy that a "specialist" who bulk-billed. My apologies for the slur I made about medical specialists earlier!!
So far I feel lucky. Won't count my chicken's ye just gunna play it one day at a time & stick to the (medical) structures. |
That's great news, look after yourself and get better
I'm guessing the job your doing with the cops now is not helping your stress levels?? _________________ You cant fix stupid, turns out you cant quarantine it either!

Thanks TP. The ED is more stressful - just so many ill people & not enough beds as well as the backfill / consequence of the last State Government cuts & the current Fed cuts in the last few years. This is the reality of funding cuts _________________ “I even went as far as becoming a Southern Baptist until I realised they didn’t keep ‘em under long enough” Kinky Friedman |

my mum is experiencing shingles with an arm. has been in agony with it and after about four weeks it is slowly starting to subside. doc said it could be another 3-4 weeks before things return to normal. _________________ Purveyor of sanctimonious twaddle. |

Ouch. I don't want to count my chickens yet. Hopefully she gets better sooner.
My pain is there but is localised & last night I felt it but less so today. _________________ “I even went as far as becoming a Southern Baptist until I realised they didn’t keep ‘em under long enough” Kinky Friedman |

That would be a normal day then? At least there are times when I go to work (in perfectly good health I may add) and wind up going home at the end of it feeling that I'm further backwards than I was before I started. |
Hah, yeah it quite often works that way for me too. I start off the day fine and after being mentally battered all day reach the point of being useless just about home time. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

I had a bloke a bit like that used to work for me. He'd come in to work every day at about 9am, if he remembered and didn't have anything better to do that day, but became totally bloody useless anytime after seven or eight in the morning. _________________ Let's eat Grandma. Commas save lives! |

My wife bought a new grater.
I was grating veges for a soup
You might know where this is going.....
Ouch....
My finger attests to the new very sharp grater. _________________ “I even went as far as becoming a Southern Baptist until I realised they didn’t keep ‘em under long enough” Kinky Friedman |

In the words of Kinky Friedman:
"May the God of your choice bless and keep you. I respect Him as long as He does not circumcise me anymore".
Then again Mohel in Yiddish is pronounced Moil. So there was some snickering when St Kilda had a player called Moyle. _________________ “I even went as far as becoming a Southern Baptist until I realised they didn’t keep ‘em under long enough” Kinky Friedman |

The idiots who ruled that 10 year old kids shouldn't keep score. I know they're well-intentioned, but they're idiots.
Ask any of those kids what the score is at any point in the game and they can tell you exactly; whether it's on the scoreboard or not.
There are some things that children should be shielded from at that age, but winning and losing isn't one of them. _________________ "I am a great sage, equal of heaven.
