Post subject: Jesse White: time to be sub | |
|
I'm getting sick of Jesse White's sub-par performances week in week out but he keeps his spot. I've mentioned ths in a few other threads tonight and come to the conclusion that if he's not dropped then I'd make him sub. He is athletic enough to play in a variety of spots in the event of an early injury. If that doesn't put a rocket under him and get him firing it's back to the VFL for mine. _________________ 'Collingwood are the Bradmans of Football'

I'd play White on the wing and get him to chop Grundy out by being third man up in the ruck contests around the ground. Don't know why he wasn't doing that last week to counter Blicavs who was going third man up for the cats to good effect. He'd also give our designated kicker another tall target for the kick-ins. |

Ok for the last time, White will NOT be dropped, White will NOT be Delisted, White will NOT be a sub, he is part of the structure up the forward to centre that Buckley is working with and although his performance have been sub par, its no worse than Goldsack for example yet I don't see anyone calling for his demise???
The guy has talent and will get it together, he'll never be an A elite player but he will play a role. _________________ There is Collingwood and then the rest. |

Has White ever played as a defender?
You would think with his athletic ability
that he would be ok?
Could he concentrate for every minute and
not go walkabout? _________________ we don't eat our own at collingwood we just allow them to foul our nest. |

Nah, silly idea.
We either play him or drop him, they are the only two options.
Putting a key position player as the sub has worked on very rare occasions, but usually for sides with key position depth, something we don't.
Let's say we use White as the sub, we are then left with Cloke, Elliott and the second ruck (Witts or Gault) as the forward options.
That's terrible. |

He should have went much harder at the ball a few times and kicked straighter but I don't think White was all that bad in a game we lost by 7 goals.
Had 5 inside 50 marks (career best?) and kicked 2.2 which is more than what Gault has been offering or the ruckmen up forward.
Until Reid is fit and in form, Moore gets his opportunity (most likely next season) or Gault kills it in the VFL White is our best option. _________________ He's mad. He's bad. He's MaynHARD! |

The difference is that Goldsack never leaves you wondering. He goes in hard and often and his success to date has more to do with effort and guts as opposed to raw talent.
On the other hand White has not realised his potential as he is far too soft and avoids body contact and putting his body on the line. If he went at it a bit harder and was more consistent with his kicking he would be a real asset. At he moment the club is hanging in there hoping he will take the next step. Personally I do not think he has it in him as he is too soft both mentally and physically. |

Gault.
It'd be easier with Reid back. Have him at FF, Cloke at CHF, Witts as the third tall and relief ruckman with White playing up the ground. |

It looks good on paper, but I think we'd be a bit top heavy. One too many talls I reckon. |

I am very close to deciding absolutely that Grundy and Witts cant be in the same team. A shame because they are both worthy number 1 AFL ruckman. _________________ Ohhh, the Premiership's a cakewalk ....... |
