Post subject: Trevor Hendy helping Cloke | |
|
Article on Herald Sun site today stating that Trevor Hendy (former Iron man champion, NOT goalkicker) is helping with Cloke's goal kicking technique!! WTF??? Maybe he should consult Tim Cahill next.. _________________ Don't confuse your current path with your final destination. Hendy isn't helping with his technique, just helping with Travs mental state and wellbeing off the field so he can improve going into games. FMD!!! What a rort! Clutching at straws from the club. If they are resorting to that to improve his kicking then there can't be much left to try. Other than maybe Benny Hinn or some other evangelist shonkster. _________________ "The night is a very dark time for me" Chaz Michael Michaels |

When did Hendy become a Sports Psychologist?? Or an expert on mental health? Dear me.... _________________ Don't confuse your current path with your final destination. Just because it's dark and stormy now doesn't meant that you aren't headed for glorious sunshine! |

Apparently Hendy is working as a life skills and well-being mentor???????
It's all a bit too new agey for me, but I guess if some players/coaches around the club benefit from his experiences then far be it for me to criticise his work. At least he's an old Preston boy and lifelong Collingwood supporter apparently, so that's a good start. |

Trav's biggest goal kicking hurdle has always been that pint of pea soup between his ears. Sure he has a ganky kicking action with a shit drop and ordinary body weight positioning but part of this is his headspace being so filled with so much shit that probably a billion and one well meaning coaches have stuffed his head with.
If Hendy can strip the dross away and simplify his thought processes he may be able to get back to something resembling a sensible goal kicking routine. |

SEN radio interviewed him a few days ago about his goal kicking training (also talks out his Harleys and other toys).

(scroll to bottom of page and there's a link to the podcast- 8.40 min).

At least it's no risk. It can't possibly make Trav a worse kick at goal.....can it? _________________ Fighting against the objectification of woman. |

I'm afraid it could. He's been trying lots in the last few years and if I recall correctly his accuracy has diminished. _________________ "The night is a very dark time for me" Chaz Michael Michaels |

I think it's probably more to do with mental preparation, being in the right mindset etc etc, Hendy would know from experience what a Psychologist wouldn't, still seems a bit out there though. _________________ Defender...........

Part of Clokes' problems are in his head. If you can fix his head I am sure you will improve his scoring ability. When you consider our investment in him we need as a club to do our utmost to get the best he has to offer. |

Yeah maybe. But you cant just keep chasing an investment that is going south. Probably a small cost though relative to Trav's salary.
I think Trav plays best and his accuracy is highest when he plays with some aggression. Maybe he should just be going out there and throw his weight around and have some fun. _________________ "The night is a very dark time for me" Chaz Michael Michaels |

Not such a bad suggestion didick, aggression releases inhibitions. |
