Geez, I reckon he looked good enough to be playing AFL next week. Hope the ankle isn't too serious. _________________ Formally frankiboy and FrankieGoesToCollingwood. |

Yep, definitely a class above. I was shocked he looked so good in his first game, although I guess he's at least been able to train at 100%. Seedsman, on the other hand, looked pretty ordinary and needs at least one more week.
I can't believe how much I've come around on Marley the last 12 months. I used to think he had no talent at all and would never make it, now I think he's a beauty. _________________ "We ain't gotta dream no more" |

Thought he was fairly quiet for much of the game. Did do a couple of nice things. Probably not ready for AFL action just yet even if his ankle comes up. We are short on numbers in defense though, so may be some chance if fit. _________________ Well done boys! |

Done the same to all the old stadiums, they're community facilities now. |

You're joking aren't you? Every time he grabbed it he ran through the lines and took it all on. A class above. Will play immediately after the bye. Damn fine effort for first game in 2 months. _________________ Est. 2002 |

They didn't even put him on the ground until the 2nd quarter Ink. Even after that they managed his minutes carefully. Still ended up injured. |

I guess we watched different games, because I thought he was a class above, and he even kicked the ball better than he ever has (I'll excuse him the scrubber shot for goal after a 60 metre run).
Any game he plays reserves is a wasted game for him. Injury aside, he's ready now. _________________ "We ain't gotta dream no more" |

The Jordan Russell role? To be slagged-off by all and sundry on Nicks as the forum whipping-boy?
But leave Williams in the reserves until we genuinely need him, or Langdon needs a rest.
Marley needs the miles back in his legs, and his tank topped up.
I'd be livid if he did a hammy in seniors because he was played under-done.

I went along today. Marley was a class above. Looked great. I went out on the ground afterwards and he was walking a little big gingerly but no ice on his ankle and looked relaxed. I wouldn't think he will miss this week's VFL game. I expect he'll play against Adelaide. He looked real sharp. _________________ Magpies love pies(Lol) |

Forget about what I said earlier in this thread
Great to see Marley back in the side. I hope he's ok after he went off late in the game. I have a feeling that the club may have been cautious with him and It would be a good idea to give him another game in the VFL before considering him for selection after the bye in the senior side. _________________ | 1902 | 1903 | 1910 | 1917 | 1919 | 1927 | 1928 | 1929 | 1930 | 1935 | 1936 | 1953 | 1958 | 1990 | 2010 | 2023 | |

I prefer to call it the 'hack back flanker role' - first established under Malthouse and continued under Buckley (one of the few pieces of furniture from the Malthouse years that the current coach has kept), it's where we bring in a washed-up hack from another club and try to make him into a gun half back flanker. Lemonade from lemons, and all that.
Armstrong merely continues in the tradition of champion spuds such as Morrison, S. Buckley and the aforementioned Russell. |

The word is that although he has not played any games since the Cats Nab cup he has trained consistently. He wasn't bad in the VFL game. I am no expert but if you've done the training the risk of getting injured should be about the same if you are playing games. Since we look like loosing Faz for a halfback flanker role I would much prefer Marley than Sammy Dwyre In that role even if his kicking is not as classy as Sam. Small scum forwards like Garlett, Thomas and Menzel need to out muscled and crunched. |
