i am a little surprised. is this our way to get a jump on the rookie draft given that we have a lot of salary cap room?
will watch very closely to see what becomes of these two lads who were each drafted it appears to fill a need on the depth chart. Spend ad medium defender. _________________ Ohhh, the Premiership's a cakewalk ....... |

Yeah but it's not like we were picking up dregs.
It's like - everyone else forgot about Marsh?
He was predicted to go 20-35 _________________ they can smell what we're cookin' |

they weren't going to use those two picks but couldn't pass up the opportunity to get langdon and marsh. i think we still have one spot on the list which will be filled at the rookie draft. _________________ Purveyor of sanctimonious twaddle. |

JUST want to say that I am very, very pleased with our picks, we have done very well, this kid Freeman will easily replace Thomas with his speed, and the Berg looks a gem, and getting Marsh is a real bonus. More kids, more speed, more versatility, we have done very well indeed. Roll on season 2014, its top four or bust, here we come !! _________________ Poverty exists not because we cannot feed the poor, but because we cannot satisfy the rich.

Would love to know how many hours were spent researching & planning for this draft by the key staff members at The Club? EVEN if we say from the end of the season until now. I'm guessing something like the US put into the Bin Laden assassination!?!?!?! |

Much earlier than that. They are scouting snd tracking players who are years off their draft year. The rabbit hole goes deep my friend |

Amazing outcome considering we had successfully traded out of this draft. _________________ Be Staunch, Be Proud, Be Collingwood |

According to a Collingwood poster on BigFooty who attended the draft in the Gold Coast and spoke to numerous people including Nathan Buckley they said that they had Tom Langdon at number 17 in their draft list so obviously they rate him higher than a lot of other sides.
As I've mentioned already, Jonathan Marsh could be anything. He could turn out to be a very special player for the club if he develops properly and he should have been picked up earlier according to many draft 'experts'.
I'm happy with how Hine and co performed in the draft. _________________ | 1902 | 1903 | 1910 | 1917 | 1919 | 1927 | 1928 | 1929 | 1930 | 1935 | 1936 | 1953 | 1958 | 1990 | 2010 | 2023 | |

Marsh is an interesting one. I see Langdons highlight reel and I think Adam Oxley for some reason; solid, dependable with a dash of run and confidence. You look at Marsh's highlight reel and it looks like Steele sidebottom or Dale Thomas re-born, and a little taller! But I guess that's the thing with highlights - they don't show you the low lights!
I'm interested we took him in the draft rather than rookie draft, I guess they are prepared to give him two years to develop, which makes sense.
I can't help but think he'll develop very nicely at the Westpac centre. I think we might have got a good one, but we wont know for a couple of years IMO

I think that's right with Marsh; lots of raw talent but needs a fair bit of development. Wouldn't expect to see him play senior footy in 2014, but Langdon looks more polished and mature as a footballer. It wouldn't surprise me to see him play a couple next year. _________________ After the epic draw comes the decisive knockout!

Can any of them kick?
And kick with either foot?

Don't you worry about that.
After reading all the press, SEN etc we not only won the drafting but the 2014 premiership as well _________________ “I even went as far as becoming a Southern Baptist until I realised they didn’t keep ‘em under long enough” Kinky Friedman |
