No, m8. The 200 m butterfly was broken in Berlin on 4th. Aug. 2002 by Otylia Jedrzejczac (try saying that when you've had a few !) of Poland. _________________ Donny.

SuperBucks, that's correct (Aug. '87) although I was looking for the individual record. Set in '88, does anyone know this one ? _________________ Donny.

That would be Janet Evans in either the 800 or the 1500m freestyle - let's say 1500m |

Generally considered to be the longest standing record is the 800m by Evans.
The 1500m is slightly older but I don't think that distance is competed for these days.
Well done, SuperBucks, your go. _________________ Donny.

Cathy Freeman's win at the Sydney Olympics was memorable indeed.
Who was the last Aussie before Cathy to win a track & field gold medal at an Olympic games ? _________________ Donny.
