I know it's a Telstra site and we shouldn't do it, but this once I'm going to repost the article so that we have a copy on this site. Well done Dale, deserved recognition.
Live Radio and Web Broadcast of the Williamstown vs Tasmania Match
Monday 4 August 2003
A historic night sees the Stereo 974 (97.4FM) football commentary team flying to Tasmania on Friday 8th August to call the Williamstown vs Tasmania game from 6:30pm. In conjunction with Dale Schmidt of Nicks Bulleting Board (a leading Collingwood Supporters Website) the coverage will include a live score board link up and a manual web cast for the first time in the history of the VFL.
Be part of history and tune into 97.4FM and Nicks Bulletin Board via Dale to hear if the Mighty Seagulls can bounce back from last weeks disappointing loss and continue their fight for top spot on the TXU-VFL ladder. It will be a ripper game coming to you live from Launceston's York Park under lights. The coverage begins from 6:30pm and concludes at 10:30pm.
Mick Gallus, Sean McManus, Heath Buck will bring you all the action with Mark Stone covering the boundary and the post match coaches interviews. David Bonnici will bring you the stats and Dale will live cast the call onto the web.
Ta access Dale's web coverage go to www.magpies.net/nick/bb and click on the Training/VFL link. |

How's that?
The live scoreboard first made history as the first live scoreboard in Australian sport and now it's done it again - but this time we didn't know that it was an historic event (or did you know Dale?). |

Once again I'm proud to be involved with this site.
Nick's - you've done it again !!
For those who can't be at the game today or get it live on TV, come into the scoreboard chat. Just click on 'Join Pies Chat' at the top of this page. It's always a lot of fun. _________________ Donny.

I was aware of the fact that this was going to be an historic event for the VFL, and during the broadcast, it was mentioned several times that not only was a VFL game going 'live' around Australia, but also to the rest of the world.
Mick Gallus also ensured that Nick's got plenty of exposure by giving out the URL at various times during the call.
With that in mind, I'd like to take the opportunity to firstly thank the management and commentary team of Stereo 974 for making it the broadcast possible, and secondly, to Mike for allowing me access to the scoreboard facility so as to bring the game live to Nick's.
I'm glad that everyone who visited the chatroom last night had a good time. _________________ Whale
