Post subject: Dustin Martin 'jailhouse' salute | |

Quote: | The AFL has asked Richmond to investigate why midfielder Dustin Martin offered a jailhouse salute after he kicked a goal during the Tigers' upset loss to Carlton on Sunday.
Martin made the emotional tribute in front of the biggest ever crowd at an elimination final after booting a goal in the second term of the 20-point defeat at the MCG.
The Tigers do not know what prompted the celebration, or to whom it was directed.
AFL spokesman Patrick Keane confirmed on Monday the league had contacted the Tigers.
"We asked the club to deal with it via their in house mechanisms, rather than have us issue a formal note to him," he said. |
Absolutely fuming at this. Who do these people think they are? Who does this self-righteous knob Luke Darcy think he is to pontificate on it? Perhaps the AFL would do better to focus on their own poor governance than pile onto a player for offering some support to a friend or family member. _________________ "Every time we witness an injustice and do not act, we train our character to be passive in its presence." – Julian Assange |

In similar news, the AFL has criticised Channel 7 for screening the Elvis Presley film Jailhouse Rock on Sunday afternoons. "It's not the sort of thing you want children watching before the footy," stated the virginal Luke Darcy, his eyebrows furrowing. "I can't say I liked the way Elvis went about it."
In the movie, Presley dons a Geelong jumper and sings catchy songs about prison life.
The Rent-A-Quote lobby group are particularly concerned. "First Dustin Martin's offensive gesture, now this," a spokesrobot whinged. "How are we going to keep our children from committing crimes now?"
Andrew Demetriou was contacted for comment but could not speak due to fits of laughter at something Luke Darcy had said a few days ago. _________________ "Every time we witness an injustice and do not act, we train our character to be passive in its presence." – Julian Assange |

Totally agree with all 3 of the above posts.
Martins answer to anyone on this matter should simply be "**** off". _________________ " Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye" ? |

What if Martin salutes a gang? A gang renowned for stand over tactics, drugs, theft? A gang know for pedophilia?
It's unprofessional and should not be tolerated.
The NFL are dealing with this problem right now. We need to nip it in the bud before it becomes a problem here. _________________ Fighting against the objectification of woman. |

All Dusty has to say when questioned, is to say that he's a huge fan of "Deal or no deal". That's it.
Strongly agree, David. I mean, who the heck cares about a hello gesture to a friend etc.............The dopey AFL, that's who.

No we don't. If he salutes a Nazi drug-peddling paedophile gang, that can be dealt with when it happens. In the meantime, perhaps we should deal with the issue at hand—that is, a player getting 'investigated' for showing solidarity to (presumably) a friend or family member who has fallen by the wayside. It's just wrong. _________________ "Every time we witness an injustice and do not act, we train our character to be passive in its presence." – Julian Assange |

Well it does nothing for his image.
The neck tatts aren't a great look either.
He looks like a member of a bikie gang.
And he wants $600,000 a season.

Oh no, the parents will have to talk to their kids about something other than bunny rabbits and flowers? The poor dears.
Hot tip for any parent confronting this (somewhat unlikely) predicament: "Well, Johnny, there's a thing called jail. Human beings who break the law and hurt other people go there. They are still allowed to have friends, though, and those friends don't have to be ashamed of knowing them or stop mentioning them in public. It doesn't mean that they think it's right to break the law; it just means that they're still thinking of them. Now let me teach you the gesture for 'up yours' for next time we walk past AFL House." _________________ "Every time we witness an injustice and do not act, we train our character to be passive in its presence." – Julian Assange |
