I cant work out all this silly fuss.
We need Mythbusters type of experiments to know whether it is a fact that some sweet saliva on a ball improves swing, shine or whatever MORE than plain saliva which is legal.
This is such a stupid overreaction by the media and now the ICC.
The Aussies should use all their saliva from sour grapes on the ball in the next test.... _________________ Don't confuse your current path with your final destination. Just because it's dark and stormy now doesn't meant that you aren't headed for glorious sunshine! |

Whether it works, as a ball shining agent, better than just saliva, isn't the issue.
It's simply illegal.
Law 42.3 of the MCC's Laws of Cricket states that a fielder may polish a ball, "provided that no artificial substance is used". _________________ Donny.

du Plessis has 'form', in this regard.
"Du Plessis, who has long been South Africa's player in charge of shining the ball, was fined by the ICC for rubbing the ball on a trouser zipper during a 2013 Test against Pakistan. " _________________ Donny.

Agree that it is a law but agree to disagree that it is NOT a really stupid bloody law.
As yet not one player found guilty of this "law" has been suspended. However with the hysterical Aussie media hacking away and the fact that he is a repeat offender, this time the outcome might be different. _________________ Don't confuse your current path with your final destination. Looks like the ICC agreed that it wasn't worth a suspension unlike 99% of the feral hack media wanted.
