Generally I drink the best tap beer I can find here, so I stay away from the slop: carling, fosters, stella, kronenburg, San Miguel (all uk brewed) etc. and try and find a staropramen (Czech), sagres (Portugal), estrella, peroni or any beer brewed in its original city and brewery. But it really depends on whether the taps are clean or they all taste the same.

During the day if I'm at the pub I generally prefer an ale or bitter, but prefer a mild or summer ale - the low alcohol 3.5% variety that don't have the bitterness of the stronger ones. And yes, I like them at cellar temperature, they're good down to the last drop, they taste as they're meant to from draught to dregs.

From the off licence I'll buy becks, corona or budvar in the bottle. At £1-£1.29 you can't really go wrong there.

If I'm out drinking by the bottle I'll have another Mexican beer like Dos Equis, Modelo or Pacifico, or an Austrian pilsner like Trumet Pils or Stiegl.

My second favourite beer is the Kilkenny, but I also like its poor cousin in the creamy draught family like Boddingtons.

My all time fave though is coming back to Melbourne and having a cold Carlton draught, it's so much better than any tap beer here. It tastes like home and history and youth and life.

Was in the bottleshop, looking for something new. Grabbed a stubby of James Squires 50 lashes pale ale (think that's right?) and it was very good.

I got given a 6 pack of that, drank one. Thought it was horrible.

I like some of the James Squire stuff but not that one.

By a serious margin, folks. Get this golden Belgian ale if you can. About ten bucks for this 750ml bottle here, which is great value for a couple of very flavoursome glasses.

I'm sure I've had Duvel stubbies at the pub on occasion but I don't recall them being anything special (maybe confusing Duvel with another beer). Anyhow, this is the cork stop larger bottle, and unlike the pub I made sure it wasn't over-chilled. Top stuff - very satisfied as we speak

Lo and behold I check the fine print and it's 8.5%!

if you get the chance to get a brand called 'bitternberger' give it a go chill it down and don't drink any other grog before hand, brewed from 2 different waters and who needs 'hot-rocks' this drop will awaken every taste bud in your mouth!
