Bizarro.

No, it's not how I describe the last two Saturdays (well, not just, anyway), but rather the name of one of Superman's adversaries. The product of a failed attempt to clone the Man of Steel, Bizarro is a twisted inversion, one who has an annoying habit of doing and thinking the opposite of the real Superman.

In this case, I can only assume he thought 'Metropolis', because he flew into Gotham right as I was taking a well earned break with Catwoman in her uptown apartment, where she was demonstrating to me her... eh, whip cracking technique. As tempting as it was to just wait for Superman to come and stop Bizarro, after about a minute's thought, I decided on dealing with the creature myself. I contacted Alfred back at the 'Cave and had him airdrop in a canister of Blue Kryptonite gas grenades, the one thing that can take Bizarro down...

...yes, Blue Kryptonite. A variant of Kryptonite that came about from an unsuccessful attempt to synthesize the real stuff, which has taken me years and cost a fortune. Luckily I have both. Anyway, after bombarding Bizarro with the Blue Kryptonite grenades and kicking him around using the Riot Control cannons on the Batmobile (that remote control function is so handy), Clark finally got around to locating a phone box to change in and arrived to pick Bizarro up. He'll probably go find him an uninhabited planet or something like that. I could care less...

Before leaving, Clark left me an envelope. Said that someone had dropped it into the Daily Planet but he thought that I could make more sense of it. And he was right, because scrawled in crayon on a piece of paper inside was another four line collection of letters and numbers...

Depends which Crisis you mean. There's more crises in the DCU than a bad day in the Collingwood coaches box...

It was a hard night at the office.

Scarecrow had seized control of City Hall. And seeing as the GCPD hasn't had a competent, well-resourced Tactical division since Brandon tried to hunt me down all those years ago, that meant I had to call in my own troops to take Crane down. And if the measure of success is whether or not we brought the maniac in, then we definitely succeeded. But it came at a heavy cost.

I'm nursing a concussion after Crane got a lucky one in and smacked me around the head with that staff of his (it's a mystery just how he managed to get in under my defences, though). Robin pinged a hamstring after he tackled one of Scarecrow's goons to the ground (the boy needs to work on his technique, I think). Nightwing is currently being treated by Alfred and Leslie Thompkins for fractures to his collarbone and scapula, after two of Scarecrow's heavies ganged up on him. And Batgirl? Well, she copped a face full of Fear Gas from Crane's sleeve-mounted aerosol dispenser as she tried to help me.

As the cops were leading Crane away, I picked up the wooden staff he hit me with and noticed that it was a bit hollow at one end (obviously not the one I copped in the head, but!) I broke it in two, and found hidden inside, rolled up in a cylinder, a piece of paper. And written on the paper, in what looked to be cheap biro ink, was yet another four line sequence of letters and numbers. But, seeing as concussion can mess with your perception, it's entirely possible that I imagined the whole thing.

Nevertheless, here's what I think I found...

Now, to get back to the 'Cave and check on Barbara. I can't imagine what nightmare she's currently enduring, but we just have to let the toxin run it's course. Maybe when she's out of the woods, I'll pay a visit to Crane in Arkham and break a rib or two, just for good measure...

Barbara pulled through fine.

I mean, she as good as told her father that's she's one of my team over a home-cooked dinner a couple of nights later, but otherwise she's alright.

I eventually got over my concussion (I'm alright too, if anyone cares) and paid Scarecrow a little visit in Arkham, as promised. After breaking a few of his ribs and dosing him with a new prototype strain of toxin that I had developed myself (and to which he of course doesn't have an immunity), I managed to prise out the latest round of letters and numbers gibberish that is so important to the purposes of the running plot around here...

Alfred managed to find other similar strings while surfing the 'Net during my concussion layoff, but I'm not sure you will want to look at them...

It was Election Day, surely everyone's favourite triennial time of the year.

The Sherrin Slaughterer and the Footy Fumbler, comical villains with distinctly un-comical MOs, have finally decided to team up. Put a psychopath together with another psychopath and you get a recipe for disaster. Especially since between them, they have what must surely be the most reliable unreliability at hitting what they aim at. Which I suppose is perversely effective at inflating the body count. Joker won't be happy about that...

Gordon summoned me to GCPD, where he showed me a video tape (seriously man, get a Blu-Ray already!) of the Slaughterer and the Fumbler announcing their intentions to steal the election with dummy ballot boxes. Just who they were trying to steal the election from, I am not sure (they're either working for swinging dick union heavy thug bosses or dick swinging thug bosses heavying the unions... pick your pantomime baddies of choice on that one...)

A sample of the fake ballot papers revealed an all-to-familiar pattern. Upon putting the ballot papers under an ultraviolet light, I uncovered yet another batch of letters and numbers that have come to taunt me relentlessly these past couple of years.

Here's what I found:

I've also, upon further reflection, decided to release the strings that Alfred stumbled across last week while surfing the Internet (which I alluded to previously). He tried to delete his browsing history, but he forgets who he is dealing with here. I never knew you could upload a Boris Johnson speech to one of 'those' sites... Shocked
