After comparing everyone, in the end we came out the biggest losers. 1 trade, 1 "gain"(if you call a draft pick a gain)

labroy, trades were completed yesterday @ 2pm. That's what I was refering to.

So if you can tell me that a team that unloads 5 players and gains 7 experienced players is worse than our 1 trade for a draft pick, well then yep we had a good trade week.

Carlton unloaded 5 useless players and got 7 average players. They may pick up a quality player in the draft and pre-season draft. Does that make them a power team?

All we did was take up Scotland's request to be traded. Had Didak agreed to go to Port we would have picked up Stevens. Would that have stopped us becoming the biggest losers?

No-one wants to make Collingwood stronger. They know we are not far short of winning a GF with a young list, so why give us the player to take it that one step further.

Calling Collingwood losers because we weren't able to trade ignores so many factors. The period involves not just trades but the two drafts as well. As I said before lets wait until it is all complete before making snap judgements.

right on labrooy. we didn't make alot of trades because we didn't need to. just look at brisbane, they only made one trade for a draft pick and can u call them losers? stevens would have being a bonus but not compulsory

I think we did good. So we missed out on Stevens, too bad. This Sunday feels much better knowing Didak and Presti will be running out next year in the black and white.

Scotland is a loss, but not that much of a loss. O.K. he can kick on both sides of his body, but he isn't overly quick and he hasn't convinced me he has the vision to break a game apart.

If he hasn't got what it takes to win a permanent spot in the Collingwood midfield what makes anyone think he has what it takes to hold his nerve and come up with the play that wins a premiership. Let him go and swim in the shallow end of the pool, if that's what he wants.

At the end of the day those in charge have more faith in Judkins with pick 35 than they have in Scotland.

Wise words indeed brother Greg. I shudder to think that Colingwood is totally satisfied with our current list and will now sit on their hands. If that is true, we are stuffed as ALL the other teams will keep topping up & improving. God, I hope that they recruit some experienced players (ruckman/defenders) in the up coming drafts.

And I would shudder to think the list we have doesn't have improvement in it. The improvement will come from within the current playing list.

I don't understand why people can't comprehend such a simple point. Our list has more potential for improvement than any of our immediate threats. Brisbane will come back to the field next year and we'll be in the best position to take over.

Realistically, the jury will have to be out until the season is well under way. Then some sort of judgement can be made.

Our list is a good one, but only the blindly optimistic would fail to acknowledge that some glaring gaps have been shown and that we are still short of a premiership side.

Greg is totally correct in his analogy that failure to progress is going backwards. Purely relying on developemnt of youth is a risky strategy. There are no guarantees as to who, how many and how far they may progress.

We have been conservative however we did not need to go mad either. Re the Stevens deal, Didak was a no go but the likes of McGough, Scotland, Cole and Lonie, whilst useful, could be classified as expendable.
