| Post subject: Great Collingwood images...what's yours? |  |

Everyone knows I love Collingwood history and hand in hand is the love of all Collingwood images, especially from our glorious past.
Jonathon Bernard has put together a brilliant article covering one of my favourite photos featuring Jock McHale flanked by Bob Rush, Gordon Carlyon and with Syd Coventry behind him. What has not been apparent until now is that young Magpie fan was chopped from image when it was published.
Here is the life long Magpie fan, John Weir...

In 1946, the editor of the Herald Sun wanted his readers to view a close up of Collingwood coach Jock McHale and thus elected to crop out a young Magpie, Peter Weir.
The Magpies were commanding the headlines that year with a 13-6 record to finish second on the ladder. A drawn semi final against Essendon and a loss to Melbourne saw Collingwood fall 13 points short of making the 1946 grand final.

JB writes some very good articles, and this clearly has to be one of his best.
Like D4P, I love my history of this great club also, and would love to see a regular series of articles about the successful history of our club.
