It's a wall,
It's a building,
It's an ancient Pagan ruin,
Would you climb on them? Would you urinate on them? Would you defecate on them?
Because that's what's happening on the rock. A place of spirituality for the first owners of this land.
Disgusting that anyone would consider such desecration. |

You can still visit a place and respect it while you're there. I wouldn't piss on but yeah, I'd climb it. What are the chances that it will fall down? After all, it ain't an 'ancient pagan ruin'. It's a rock. _________________

Member, who is taking a dump on Ayres Rock? Not the most hospitable place to pinch a loaf. _________________ Black. White. Forever. |

Fair point, except that those are all man-made places constructed for certain purposes, and a couple still have widespread cultural relevance. As for Stonehenge, you would assume it is a little more fragile than a huge rock in the middle of Australia. No-one built Uluru, so can anyone really lay a claim to it?
In all fairness, I'm a little 50/50 on this. Religious relevance for a small group of people as opposed to a fairly unnecessary but fairly harmless adventuring experience for another small group of people... perhaps the fact that neither argument has any relevance to my own life is the defining factor. So, the fence it is. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

This is in the news again. Any thoughts? Nearly seven years on, I can't offer much better than what I wrote above. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

I have been to Ayers Rock/Uluru (but not climbed it) and have stood within Stonehenge. Both reverential places. It all comes down to respect.
